Hello group,

I was running the car in the dirt the other day and noted that the engine was reving without the car accelerating. Eventually, it wouldn't move although the engine was reving. I brought it home and checked the slip clutch and it seemed fine. When I spin the rear tires without the engine running, the rear end feel gritty. Here is my question....is it possible to blow the rear end or transmission out of these cars? I want to fix it, but do not know where to start.

Thanks everyone.

Yes, you can blow the transmission on these cars.

Start by taking apart the differential and check to gears to see if anything is wrong.

You can buy rebuild kits off the net or just buy the gear that is messed up.

Also, check your clutch shoes to see if that is the problem.

What truck are you running? Are the wheels held on by friction or is there a slot on the wheel hex that slides on the drive shafts? If its held on by just tightening the wheels, then you probably loosened a wheel and the diff kicked in and just kept spinning it.

What?

You asked him what truck he is running. I think that it is an RC10GT by the subject of his post.

I wasn't bashing you either.

Oh I'm sorry bout that......I didn't realize I asked what truck he was running. I knew it was a RC10GT, I meant to ask what kind of method are the wheels held on by? sorry for the confusion.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I am going to tear into the transmission tomorrow and check the gears. I will also check the clutch shoes. There are slots in the wheels for the shafts and they are aligned properly. I am still pretty new with the nitro cars, but reading the forums and suggestions from those who have experience certainly helps. I will let you all know what I discover after tearing it down. Thanks everyone.
