ok, ive been thinking i would want a savage ss because i wanna build it, but i also dont wanna buy a bunch of extra parts. the only part of the ss that i know is better then the rtr is the pipe on the ss, and anyway, how much better is it?? also the rtr comes with rotostart, 3 shoe clutch, and a better fueltank. as much as i would like to build it, isnt the rtr just a better deal and a better truck??? if i were to go with the ss, which fueltank should i buy or what should i do (fuel upgrade or w/e ppl talk about), which 3 shooe clutch. anything else?

Couple of questions to ask yourself. Is this your first RC? If you need a radio, receiver, and servos then you might come out better to buy the RTR. If you are like me and had a good radio already it makes more sense to buy the SS because you get upgraded parts and you have less unused stuff just sitting around. Plus I really enjoyed building my truck. I might go for the updated fuel tank.. 10 bucks.. and I already ordered a eNVY 3 shoe clutch kit.. 30 bucks.. so after that there is not a part on the RTR that is what I consider better.

i can cover the radio and all that, but where do i buy a fuel tank and which one do i want (i dont see it on hpi site), and where do i find a three shooe clutch that will fit on the s-25 engine without modification? also, in another thread a guy lists some small things to add when building it:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_1112535/mpage_1/key_savage%252Cbuilding/anchor/tm.htm#1112535

would u advise these diff upgrades, oil etc...?

Most any LHS or online HS should have 3 shoe clutchs that fit. I ordered a eNVY 3 shoe kit (part #NVR110008K) for mine.. I think you need to get a the OFNA shim kit (part #OFN10099) to make sure it fits right but that is not hard. As for the fuel tank just look for the Savage RTR fuel tank (part# 87149), it is the one with rear pick up and no primer, while you are looking for clutches. All three of those things run about 50 bucks total.

Hope that helps..
