i have an evader st and i think its fine how it comes unless he really really wants to do some hopups to it. it is pretty fast as it is so i dont think he would need a 2 speed if they make one for an evader. the only thing i would recommend getting is some better tires if he hasnt already. if he is going to be driving a lot offroad then proline masher 2000 or dirt hawgs would be great for that. the mashers are a lot bigger but it doesnt slow the car down very much at all with the DTX .18 engine so it is all preference when it comes to that.

hey, maybe you guys can help me with nitro my evader st. i recently broke in the engine, and now it doesnt want to start. the glow plug is fine, the batt is fine, it something to do with the tuning. i tried to adjust the low speed needle, (i know, stupid thing to do) and now it wont idle correctly. and some times it wont start at all! when i do get it started, as soon as i give it some gas it stalls. i looked in the manual and it doesnt say how many turns out the low speed needle should be. please help!

Wow, you really screwed yourself .....Naw I'm joking. There is a
simple way of adjusting the low-speed needle correctly called the
“pinch test.” With the engine at idle, pinch the fuel line and listen to
how the engine speeds up or slows down. If the engine increases
its speed for about 3 or 4 seconds and then loses speed, the
needle is set correctly. If the engine loses RPM quickly, it is set too
lean and the low-speed needle needs to be opened
(counterclockwise) to richen the mixture. Pinch again to check the
mixture. If the engine takes longer than 5 seconds to slow down,
lean (clockwise) the low-speed needle and then pinch again to check the mixture.

A number of things.........and yes you should adjust the low speed settings. 1-1/2 screw out its the minimum for the high speed, my low is at 1-1/4 out... it all depends on altitude, but this will get you back to a normal realm. If you are using Dts glow ignitor..toss it. Very poor and short lived. I use A3 plugs from OS. Also, a starter box is great to use.

i dont think u will find a kit to make it 4wd. just not a practical(and money wise) thing to do. As for the 2 speed you might be able to fit the one from other duratrax vehicles but you would have to modify it to fit. There arent any bad parts on this truck that needs to be upgraded that ive come across. Stock it has some great hop ups already on it.

I've been running a Nitro Evader for about 7 months now. A few things come to mind. First, have your friend get an inline fuel filter, second, use an O.S. A8 glow plug, and third, if your doing some hard running, or racing, that involves jumps and hard turns, get a high torque, metal gear steering servo. The other posts gave you advice on setting your carb, but also check your compression to make sure it was broken in correctly. If you can turn the flywheel easily by hand, then you may have engine damage. This can also cause hard starting and bad idling. Good luck.

Bill
