Get a Strong Hitec Metal gears, high torque servo, good servo saver
Motor Saver filter. Extra parts, like arms etc etc. Cause those break.
I got dual brake pads, to increase stopping power.
(the savage comes with a throttle return spring.. which works as a failsafe)

That's about it! if you want to go extra
Hotbodies wheels, (cheaper)
Tsai's Pipe,... (custom draft pipe)
FM radio setup
Bigger engine, the Picco or wasp .27
some aluminum hopups

If you bash hard you will probably want a roll cage. Check out this review of the RC Solutions rollcage on wild hobbies:

It's always a good idea to use a failsafe even with the throttle return spring. The carb on my Savage doesn't close completely with just the spring so the added failsafe is a nice comfort just in case. The Hitec 945MG servo will be fine for the steering.I use the very same one on my Savage and it's perfect.I tried the Hitec 645MG first but it was to slow for my taste and was swapped for the 945.I also use a Hitec 625MG servo for throttle/brake.Again the 645 was slow and had to much torque for braking duty and I would constantly flip my truck when trying to stop.Use the stock Savage steering servo for your throttle/brake and use the stock throttle/brake servo for your reverse module.A few other parts I would suggest would be HPI's HD dogbones and a GPM or Integy alloy brake hub.The added torque of the stronger servo will not be kind to the stock plastic hub and it will strip out.

Just get the Hitec 945 for your steering and use the stock steering servo for the throttle/brake. Then you have the stock throttle servo left, this will work great for your reverse module shifter. (3rd channel)

As far as the failsafe's go I've never heard anyone complain about the Venom failsafe, but I have heard complaints about the Ofna one.

The ones you would need are the 9x123mm ones. These are the ones that drive the wheels. The 8x83 is the center rear dogbone and the 8x77 is the center front dogbone.I used Hot Bodies CVD's to replace the center dogbones but the HD ones should do just fine. The main ones that need replaced are the 9x123 though.I snapped countless stock ones with my 8port before I bought the HD ones.Other than these few minor things you could pick up some good silicone shock oil and maybe a few extra stock part like spur gears and shock shafts and a fuel filter.

I would get a fail safe and a temp gun instead of the onboard thing. You can get the Duratrax one for 25 american. I have one and a Raytek handheald gun and they work great.

Rex knows it a bit better than I do, I never had a run away, and the person that gave me his savage didn't have a throttle return spring. I run a FM radio too. But I run in a pretty open area. The only problem that fail safe and throttle return springs don't prevent is when your throttle arm comes off your carb. Then you just pray and look for something that would be in it's path to stop it.
