I got my Dragonfly heli today, and after some trimming i still cant get it to stay in one spot. My main problem is the Gyro or Tail motor not being able to compensate for the main blades enough.

My Gyro is set at maximum gain (any less and the spinning gets worse) and the heli still turns around when *attempting* to hover. I have to manually move the stick to the right (moves the tail left...its not moving fast enough) to stop the heli from spinning.

I also noticed that when the throttle is at maximum that the green speed controller light turns red and the gyro doesn't seem to work. My heli also seems to want to tip to the front right no matter if the trimming is in the max opposite direction (it lessens it but i still have to manually correct it constantly). I'm flying indoors so no wind (oh, and I'm flying with the training gear thank god...otherwise i would have broken 20 blades because it tips too much and I can't correct it because it keeps spinning).

Any suggestions to correct any or all of these problems?
When I get it flying properly I'll be sure to spread the word about how wonderful it is

i had similar spinning problems - constant spinning clockwise on take-off. i had to hold the rudder stick nearly full left to arrest the spin. so i turned down the gyro's GAIN knob trim as well as the SETTING knob trim. then i adjusted my TX rudder trim so i wouldn't have to keep holding the left rudder. from there, it was just a matter of playing around with the 2 gyro trim - GAIN and SETTING.

Hope this helps

I started to play with that earlier today. It flew like a dream inside for around 30 secs untill I tried to land it and crashed into a wall. Then I went outside where the heli got carried away by wind, dinted the blade and broke a skid :'(
LOL...I'm glueing the skid back together and I have a few extra blades. That was like my 20th crash (the most major one), this thing is extremely durable.

As for the side leaning, I took the servo hand off and set the trim to where the heli was stable and put the hand back on. It works a little better now. I still need to mess around with the gyro because it still has slightly too much gain on it
Thanks for your help. I just hope that this heli flies right in the near future.

The "Setting" pot on the gyro should only need to be set once. Center the rudder trim on your radio. Turn on the transmitter, then plug in the batteries on your heli. Set the heli on a flat, stable surface. Adjust the setting pot untill both lights are lit. The setting pot is used to cancel out any offset from your transmitter. If you turn the heli slowly by hand, one light should go out as you turn it one way, and the other light should go out as you turn it the other way. Both should be on when the heli is not moving.
Also, make sure you do not have REVO mixing on in your transmitter, if you have a heli radio.
Hope this helps

Reuben

I used to have it on red/green when not rotating, but it didn't work (the tail kept spinning too much). I had to make it favour red slightly when not moving, and now it works properly

I don't have a heli radio, I only a 4 channel futaba skysport one (it came with the Dragonfly heli).

Thnaks for all your help,
Arrian
