Fly fort...GOOD ONE! put the triangle piece in as one piece..Do not cut it up in pieces..As you can see I did both ways and the one piece was much easier to do...Consider this also..splice your wing spars together at the center first before you biuld the ribs up..Reason for this it is much easier to do with out all the weight of the wing of each side..I built the left side completly and then the right and then tryed to put them together then...What a hassel that was....But if you just make the connection in the center first with the 4 sticks in the front spar and also the rear spar..all the weight of the completed wing isnt there..Then buld each side with the ribs..after you do one side finished, then prop it up so the other side is down on the plans and finish it...Michael

I was thinking of using about a 12 or 14 ounce tank at each naccelle and then a good size feeder tank in the middle of the fuse to feed the engine tanks..I am using OS91 fs with the pump for engines and so the plumbing for all the tanks wont be so hard..You would disconect the fuel lines feeding the engines at refueling time and then fill up the large tank in the fuse and when it is full..it would then start filling up the nac tanks untill all those would be full..so with a 30 ounce tank in the fuse feeding 14 ounce tanks in the nacs that would give you a long flight...What do you think?? Hi Michael,

Not a bad idea.

Keep me informed when you commence to that stage.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like trouble. The more complicated a system, the more things can go wrong. Just my c2

hey Mustang..Take a look at my construction photos..I dont do anything simple...With the feeder tank you are preventing a air bubble from forming in the tank that feeds the engine...with a air bubble ,you run the risk of a flame out..after spending the money that I have on this and the time building it,I want to be sure nothing goes wrong..The feeder tank idea was taken from the helicopter guys as they all have a feeder tank because they must never have a flame out...Michael

Differancs is... they're only feeding one header tank, not four. You're also talking about all that plumbing betwen tanks, along with the disconnects(one tank in fuselage, four in wings) associated with running a system like that. You do what you want... I've just been in this hobby a long time, that's all(not that you haven't).
Just playing devils advocate.
Besides, do you really need over an hour of flight time?
That's what in scale time???? Three missions to Remagen and back with only "pitting" for bombs?

This system is simpler than you think..I am using OS 91 fs with the pump..There is no need for a presure tap..So the feeder tank with the use of tees is feeding the header tank and that is it.. as the feeder take is filled on the ground ,it fills completly and then it fills the header tanks...at each engine all you do is open a vent tap and the fuel flows out to get rid of the air in the tank..anyway once it is installed into the airplane ,I'll take pics to show it all set up...Time in the air? I dont care about that..For me the worse case is to blow the landing approch and need to go around on low tanks and then with all the air in the tanks causing a flame out...needing power to go around and then only 3 engine going isnt for me ..Michael

Wooow,

"Heavy" discussion here.

Michael, are you going to use also a glow system with your engines?

I'm building also a Bronco, and I'm going to experiment with the system (with 2 OS FS70)

Here you can find additional info about the system that I'm gonna use in my Bronco http://smservicesuk.co.uk/acatalog/ --> On Borad Units --> SM20 Glo Switch

Bye

Fly fort..in regards to glow system..I have to use a glow system because of the location of the glow plug on the engine makes it impossible to get to when the cowl is on...Besides...The fear of the flame out is on my mind all the time when building this plane...I had a flame out on a twin trainer that I designed and it happened on a go around ..giving the fuel the left engine quit..the quarter of a second that your mind needs to see the happenings and it was over!..The right engine just spin it to the left and smash! all this happened at about 6 feet off the ground...So there wasnt any time to react...YOU DO NOT WANT A FLAME OUT!! it is as "simple" as that...Michael in California

I have a Smith B-17 with saito .91's. I also have 90 flights on it. I also have made 90 landings with all four engines running. I did buy a glow driver because every one said " Lose an engine and lose the plane" WHAT A CROCK. R ememder you have four engines. I paid 250 for a glow driver set up from Mcdaniels and used it three times. I hade trouble with battery interfearance wwhen the drive was not on. Sounds wierd but bob mcdaniel couldn't even figure it out. I sold the whole set up for 20.00 at an auction. I am currently building a Smith B-24 and will be powering it with saito .91's and will not be using a glow driver system.
