Ok, I have a problem with the heli losing altitude. Aerohawk will not stay airborne for some reason. I am running a G-310 Tuning Motor from HeliHobby.com with CF Blades. Also has aluminum swashplate and stay. Why is it that it will not stay in a hover? It doesn't get off the ground until about 70% throttle and when it starts to fall I give it 100% throttle and it continues to fall. Also running the stock 8.4v 700Mh NIMH bats. What is the problem and what can I do to solve it? Thanks!!

I'm curious to this answer also. I looked on helihobby at the motors and was thinking of getting the 410 motor but not sure how that will affect the tail motor so I held off. 2 Quick questions- did you ever fly the Aerohawk with the stock motor? If so, how did it fly?

I had problems getting the thing into a hover with the stock motor as well. I just can't figure it out. Could it be that the pitch of the blades is not enough or what? She is alot more stable with all the upgrades I have done but still can't figure out why she wont stay in a hover for long.

I did read something yesterday on one of these forums, and I dont know how much truth it holds(me being a newbie). However, someone stated that a hover is always between two clicks on the trottle with ratchet ( i assumed that ment a throttle that clicks when you move it up and down on the TX). And to remove the clicks to give you a smooth transition when powering up. The person in need of help did that, somehow, and said it had fixed the problem. I'm trying to learn more about that before I try it. I dont know enough about the TX to go fiddling around inside of it. However this might be a thought you may want to look into as well. Just keep me posted if you find something out because I'm having the same problem keeping a constant fixed altitude.

I have the ratchet removed from my Skysport 4 radio. Problem is that from 65% throttle to 100% Throttle, there is no change in lift from the main blades. Only thing that changes is tail rotor speed a bit. So I am really only getting power from 0-65%. Is this radio or ESC or Motor issue or what? I am thinking about using my digital radio to see if I can adjust this on the heli. Not sure yet.

iam new at aerohawk also and had the same problem. i think the solution is buy a new lithium battery, i bought 2 of them and got rid of the problem. again this is just my guess so ninvestigate battery matter more.
mine is very unstable. i think it is the sawhplate it is not leveled, could this be a problem..
Thanks

I agree with newbie, get a LiPo because the NiMh is too heavy.
3D, are the flybar paddles level?Do you have a head stiffener?
Aero Newb, the swashplate on most will not be level, they have to be trimmed to one side or the other to fly right. Very few are going to have a perfect weight distribution for a level SP.
Bmratc, there is nothing to it. When you open it up, there is a metal tension bar on against the back of the stick. You can move it or sand the plastic teeth off the stick and put it back. There are not alot of parts in there to deal with.
Although i have made these changes myself, i still get a floating hover. I was told it's wind current in a small enclosed area. Could be my CF blades are a bit worn out also. New ones on the way so i can tell.

Best guess... Battery is probably shot. Try buying a Lythium... Much lighter and more power.
