hi, i have addicted my little bro (10) to the world of r/c. but since i am only new to the hobby myself i am not sure ofwhat to reccomend to him. he wants a stadium truck. and is leaning towards a nitro one. i think he needs something with an easy to tune engine and something that will be fairly durable. so what do you reccomend??

Thats great!!!! I to got my son into rc cars , but he is 8 and nitro is a pain in the butt.try an electric rustler or rc10 alot easier to start with plus easy to learn to drive. My son drove my tmaxx and had a hard time so i got him a t3 and a rustler and loves it..

i would definatly go nitro. i would recommened the rc10 gt because it is reliable and is very durable. the engine is very easy to tune and break in. you can get it at www.ultimatehobbies.com at i think $260 which is a great price. also a duratrax evader st is a great beginner truck. it is a little more difficult to keep in tune but it has more power for more fun offroad. but either of them are great trucks.

how'd you break in your engine in 5 minutes? you can't wot it until after break in which takes WAY more than 5 minutes. but yes, rc10gt is pure awesome. listen to denier, he knows his nitro st's, lol.

thans guys, yea the rc10gt sounds good or mabee the rc10 (is that the electric version??) but i think i'll stick to nitro, as he doesnt want to sit around waiting for batteries to charge, also he is a fast learner and i think nitro would be a good experience for him. that does sound like a good price denier99. what do you guys think about the duratrax ST or MT??? i saw them and they also looked alright. i think i've narrowed it down to four vehicles. the rc10gt, duratrax ST & MT and mabee the Losi XXX-NT. as they seem to fit his criterior so can you help me knock some off the list???

For a first truck, get the GT
Reasons
1- easy to work on
2- very durable
3- most hobby shops stock parts (maybe not in Austraila, but here they do)
4- Did I say easy to work on?
5- many aftermarket up-grades available

Duratrax Run!! (if you gave me one I'd put it on ebay the same night)

XXX-NT Awesome truck, but for someone that allready can drive well without crashing allot, not as durable as the GT.

The Gt is the best choice for a first truck IMHO

I would have to assume that he had already taken time to break in the engine?

As for the XXX-NT....I have one and I love it. I bought it and the RC10GT RTR and doing a side by side comparison....I liked the quality of the XXX-NT more than the RC10GT. I am not saying the RC10GT is not a good rig....many have them and love them......it was just my taste in rigs that led me to keep the XXX-NT and sell the RC10GT. Actually....either one would be good to own and drive......as all rigs have their pros and cons.

Find one you want to own and have fun with it!

i would say the duratrax max st would probably be your best bet for a beginner. They are not as bad as everyone says. You can also look at the traxxas nitro sport. But honestly i think nitro is a little much for a 10yr old. If charge time is an issue just buy some extra batteries. Duratrax also makes a great line of electric trucks. But if you really want nitro for him I would go with the duratrax max st.

btw the nitro evader by duratrax might be a good choice too. Its extremely easy to tune and has tons of hop-ups on it stock. Pretty cheap also.
