Why is it that it seems that most deltas are fast?

I just finished a Force One and put a 20 year old OS 40 FSR on it and it goes like a bat out of hell. I expected a fun odd plane, I got a FUN ODD plane. It is faster than my twin and P51.

Just wonder why?
