Ken, My name is Paul and I'm building the 1/3 scale. My plans show four laminations of 1/16 x 3/8 spruce for the rear spar of the top center section. Thanks again

Paul, you are correct. I looked at my plans again and do recall what you are talking about. The two center ribs are made a little smaller in the trailing spar area in order to get a smoother flow line across the top of the center section. You would lay the pieces of spruce in one at a time to follow the contour.

I cheated and used a single piece of 1/4 x 3/8 spruce. I built the two center ribs up to match the rear spar. If I had it to do again I would probably laminate. These pieces should be easy to cut on a band saw since they are not very long. A little sanding would finish them up before gluing.

Paul,
You might want to try http://www.superiorbalsa.com/ for your spruce sticks. You will have to call them but the spruce I've ordered from there are of top quality and they have all sizes. I cheated like Ken did on my 1/4 Jung...I didn't lam them

Jay Thanks for the info. I ended up getting some spruce from Aircraft Spruce a full scale company. They have it in long lengths so the longerons will be one piece. They also have 1/8 x 3/8 so I can at least do two laminations of the top rear spar. Could you post a picture of the rear of your fuse ? I'm a little confused as to the placement of the rear longerons where the horizontal stab sits. Are they just butt glued to the last vertical ? Thanks again for the help. Paul

Paul,
No problem at all. The longerons you are referring too run all the way to the tail. The top Longeron runs from F1 all the way to about 5 inches to the end of the tail then doglegs 1/2 inch and finishes the run to the tail, and the bottom longeron runs from the back of the center bottom wing piece of ply to the rear as well. All 4 (2 on each side) join to some balsa at the tail beveled to a trapezoid (looking from the top down) Check out this pic of mine here. Just pinch the ends together with that trapezoid of balsa. Also the stab simply rests on the top 2 longerons with some balsa filled in, in a trapezoid expoxied to the longerons. Hope this helps. If you need more lemme know.

Jay,
Thanks for the photo. The longerons that the stab sits on that step down from the main longerons is where I'm confused. Do they just butt glue to the last vertical ? Thanks again for your help.

Paul,
Sorry, yeah they just glue into the longerons...the last two verticals from the back are spruce on my fuse. It forms a spruce rectangle glued and then reinforced w/ gussets. Check this pic out.

Jay,
Thanks for the info. Sorry to appear so stupid but I just wanted to make sure before I cut something too short. I got my spruce today and the short kit should be here any day. Thanks again.

Hi Ken, New here, have plans for 1/3 scale Jungmeister. Want to know weight of your Jungmeister and how is that 4.2 for power. I have a Brison 4.2 that needs a home, plus laser cut parts for the Gary Allan Jungmeister . Anything you can add. Thanks Don.

Hi Don, my Jungie came out at 27#. The 4.2 I use is a converted Sachs Dolmar chainsaw engine with a CH Electronics Syncrospark ignition. It seems pretty ideal for the plane. The prop I'm using is a NX 22x10. The combo really pulls it well.

I've posted a lot of photos and info in this thread. If you need a little more info then just let me know. This is one of my favorite all time models.

Ken

This thread has been so quiet for so long that you guys must have lost interest in your Bücker Jungmeisters. Am I the only one who has built and flown one?

Hey Ken,

I'll chime in here for a friend, as I'm sure he isn't following the thread anymore. Jwreffner did get his finished up and maidened. He only got one flight on it at the end of the season. But with the RCV 120....it flew great. Very stable, Very Scale. The only exciting part was losing a wheel pant on landing. I'll see if I can get the video off of him and post it on my website. Other than that it's a great flying plane.
