Yes they work as good but are of a different shape. I'd be interested if someone could source them. I'll see tonight if I can post a picture.

Dera All

Take a look at post 3549 and 896,

3549 are the origional tanks which are no longer available from Netto, However I also have a box of bottles that can be used as tanks on the L39 I will post photos over the weekend

I also believe the Graupner 1 litre tank fits well plus a UAT or chainsaw clunk

Regards

Gordon

No, the netto bottles had a green cap and were no clear plastic.
They can be seen page 72 of this thread. That was back in 2005... my plane has changed a lot since then...

Well I decided to spend the money and go with Down & Locked electric conversion of my Spring Air 301 retracts. A little pricy but a really first class conversion. If you want really realistic looking operation and less hassle they are the only way to go.

So the general consensus is turbine.  Guess the HobbyKing Hawk is a better choice if you want EDF of this size

If you use a wren pipe, distance from pipe to turbine should be 10mm if regular wren44, and 30mm if wren44 gold.
Schematics post#1746 (page 70). If needed I can make you an engine mount post#1598 (page 64).
I Still have some parts lying around since 2005 and I just digged out the CAD files.

Perhaps you ought to start a separate poll?

You can bet on it. This is one of the best small turbine or first EDF's out there. I have a new one in the box but it won't be for long.

Think the new baby Jets Munt turbine shown at Jetpower will be perfect for the L39.  4kg of thrust. 60mm diameter casing. Got to be worth considering as it should  be a whole lot lighter than the Wren44.

A few are putting the first Man start 44 in them. Where as you leave most of your WT on the ground it fits right well. Turbine turned back of coarse. Ha.

Just a thought, might be worth making a bespoke Kevlar  tank for the L39, I'll look into this if there's interest. A bit of bling and a whole lot more cost than a shampoo bottle but worth a look I feel. fibreglass tank may be a better option as a whole cheaper to produce.

One of mine has the original wand type start wren44 with a hinged hatch cut out in fuzz to start the turbine.

You have it. That's the way Boomerang showed me how to set mine up. I will watch with interest the makings of the fuel tank. I will fly mine with the EDF set-up but know the 44 will wind up in it!! Lol. If I keep the 44.

If you guys make a kevlar tank, I want to be on the waiting list. A two 0.5l tank setup is perfect as you don't really need a UAT.

Yann. This will be good for a 44 set-up. I will also need a pipe but I can make that myself.

You can get a pipe for the Wren44 from Wren...
Talking about Wren and memories back from 2005, I liked talking to Sara at Wren. She was nice and very helpful...
Too bad she is no longer part of the Wren team...

Yes. We all miss Sara. Making a pipe is no problem. Have the equipment and have worked with SS and Aircraft Alum all my life. One this short would be a cinch but if a used one came up on RCU .............. Ha.

Two of the best ladies in jets. Sara at Wren and Patricia at Boomerang Jets. Is is a coincidence they are both from "jolly ole England"?

Hey...Does anyone have a spare L-39 airframe for turbine use that they want to part with. A friend of mine had a mishap this past week and needs a new one. Just the airframe for turbine use that accepts flaps, rudder and retracts.

If your looking for an L39 for a small turbine, have a look at the Jet Teng airframes, build here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10434227/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm and link to the site on post two.
