Number of cells: _8_______ What brand/mAh: 730mah AAA nimh GWS
ESC model: Plantraco rx/10 amp esc combo DSC-4SP
Servos: HItec hs-81
Transmitter/Receiver: Hitec Laser 4 Plantraco rx/esc combo

Number of cells: _started with 7, very quickly went to 8_______ What brand/mAh: __All e RC 800 AAA and 650 2/3 AA
ESC model: _Castle Pixie 20_______
Servos: _Hitec 81_______
Transmitter/Receiver: _Hitec Flash 5, Hitec 555
Motor (stock or...): __started with stock 300, very quickly went to 350______
Modifications: Good ones: down-right thrust mod, brass rod tube, extra wire on landing gear, hi-strength tape on wing edges, raised trailing edge 1/4", prop saver. Not so good ones: balsa in fuselage, too much tape on tail (both caused too much weight on tail)

Comments on flight characteristics: probably too heavy, getting about 7 minutes fly time per charge.
Advice to new SS builders: Use the lightest components that you can and don't even think about flying in wind. I've spend as much on replacing props and shafts as the SS cost.

I am needing some answers on electric questions.I fly glow planes however,I am wanting to order a slow stick for flying at schoolyards, will a slowstick work with an artronics 4 channel radio with standard reciever and servos or will this be to much weight. im trying to get into it cheap and only want to buy an ESC and battery pack.I have seen slow sticks carrying cameras so i was thinking that I could get by with standard reciever and servos. any help from some of you slowstick flyers would help. E-mail bigdrawzlinder@aol.com Thanks very much.

Im sure you will be fine, GWS says it will fly with standard equiptment, im using a standard RX and the mini GWS servos I have are not much smaller or lighter than my standard ones.

3D "NOT SO" SLOW STICK

Thunder Poly 3s 2100mah
phoenix 10
naro std servos w/ GWS TX/RX
Himax 2015-4100 w/ GWS D Gearbox 12x8 gws prop

Mild mods I can think of off hand are copper tube to replace the stock aluminum tubing, 3 strips of clear packing tape across underwing for support, carbon string rudder/elevator support.

Have had good results withthis setup 1hr 15min + flight times. Can hover, ROG and climbs out of sight in about 20 seconds, light aerobatics, outside loops without effort, inverted flight, current setup pushes this bird to it's limits but makes for one hell of a $30 kit.

Looking for a good camera now for aerial vid and pics.

Good Luck

Number of cells: 2 What brand/mAh: Etec 1200
ESC model: GWS ICS100
Servos: HS55
Transmitter/Receiver: Hitec Eclipse/GWS R-8M
Motor (stock or...): stock--with 1260 prop
Modifications: added curtek light system

Comments on flight characteristics: It's great on calm days or days with a light steady wind, can do multiple loops, climbs out @ 60* WOT, slows to a crawl, and flies inverted as long as I can keep it from rolling over. It is great fun at night, because that big wing lets it fly slowly and is super easy to track with the lights on. On the downside, it could could use more rudder authority, as crosswind gusts routinely roll it inverted at inopportune times, and it will NOT spin or rudder roll, even with 45* deflection each side. All in all, a great plane for many uses (as long as its not too windy).

Number of cells: ____6____ What brand/mAh: ____900 mAh NIMH____
ESC model: ____Great Planes CS10____
Servos: ____Airtronic Standard Size____
Transmitter/Receiver: ___Airtronic VG4_FM - Standard Size____
Motor (stock or...): ____Stock 300____
Modifications: ____None____

Comments on flight characteristics: ____Will loop from level flight on a fresh charge. 12min duration at 3/4 throttle. Very stable. Handles wind well because of 20oz. flying weight. This plane easily handles the standard size radio gear - a great solution for those that don't wan't to by new radio equipment._____

ESC model: Castle Creations Pixie 7P
Servos: Hitec 55 servos
Transmitter/Receiver: Hitec Laser 4 ch. / Hitec single conversion Feather reciever
Motor (stock or...):Stock 300
Modifications: Used good tape, epoxied/taped fiberglass rods to LE and TE of wing, did not cut fuse, bolted motor to fuse, epoxied rudder and elevator to fuse, Dubro ultra lite wheels, cut the tips off one of my wings for stability in wind, home made floats for the snow, sturdy board tail feathers, more to come

Comments on flight characteristics: Flies great, cut wings work well in slight wind, floats are awsome

All I need to buy are batteries and an ESC

If I run 8 cells, I'll want a 15-20A ESC - much like the ICS-480:
http://www.aeromicro.com/Catalog/gws_ics-480_esc_2870439.htm

8 cell NiMh pack:
Any suggestions?

Number of cells: (3)________ What brand/mAh: Kokam 1500's ________
ESC model: Castle r/c sprite 25________
Servos: (2)GWS pico's(2)HS-55's________
Transmitter/Receiver: Futaba 6 EXA/ berg Dsp*5________
Motor (stock or...): GWS "D" gear Speed 400 gearbox/w_6 volt Permax 400 motor_______
Modifications: Assembled using foam CA and "3M Scotch cal thin decal tape, foam wheels Just added flaperons________

Comments on flight characteristics: _After switching to the speed 400 motor, I never looked back. It just does wonders for this plane. it is incredibly stable with the added weight of the batteries and bigger motor. Climb's just like the big boy's, pretty much straight up. Impressive speed for this draggy of a wing. I use a timer to keep runs under 14 mins. The flaperons add a whole new dimension to flying this plane, keeping my interest in it fresh.

Happy flying : )

Cells: 2s3p cell phone li-poly's 800mah each - 2400mah total - total pack weight 3.8 oz
ESC: pixie 20p
Servos: Micro 9's from allerc (these servos are a bit rough)
Xmtr: HiTec Laser 6 Rcvr: HiTec HFS-04MG
Motor: Stock EPS300C retimed for reverse rotation
Mods: Epoxied wing halves
AUW is 14.5 oz

Comments: Only flown twice so far. Need less wind and warmer temps. This thing flies *really* slow compared to my Sky Scooter. Definitely more sensitive to wind. Should work out great for my AP platform once the weather warms up. I expect flight times in excess of 45 minutes.
Climb rate is better than I expected.

Go for it. You wont be sorry, and can buy two for the same price of the war birds.
Let us know how she flies.
