I just left the stock gear for the mashers. Acceleration didnt suffer at all for me. Engine ran like it normally does. Id have to say the ground clearance is around 3-4 inches with these tires

Hey all, I just got Nitro Evader back from the shop... it seems it was just the needle settings all along. man, I saw him fiddle with it for over an hour and he could not get it to run... they called up a tech buddy and he walked em through a few pro tips and they got it running. They broke it in for me (dernit) and I just ran it for the first time tonight... you know that saying: "If your not breaking anything, your not having fun." Well I was having a blast! And I broke the front shock mount. I know I can just send it in and get it replaced free, but I want to upgrade too. I havn't found an aluminum front shock mount from duratrax so I was wondering if any of you knew of a aluminum front shock mount that will fit? Or is this unnecessary and it was just a fluke that it happened to break... I should mention that I had the body off and it was a direct hit with a piece of plywood at full throttle... Despite the fact that I just incapacitated my very first nitro on it's first tank (after break in) I am very happy! weeeeeeeeeeeee this is a blast.

    -Josh

Yeah that front shock tower is more like a crumple zone than anything else... I think that's how you "break your cherry" on the evader though heh. I broke mine first run as well... no biggie. I sent it in AND ordered two spares from tower.

As far as alum replacement for the front shock tower, have patience... they are on the way:

    Front: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGAT2&P=K
    Rear: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGAT3&P=K

Just be carefull about loading up with the metal though... as stated by many people before... something has to give. Rather break cheap plastic suspension parts rather than hubs shocks, and bulkheads

What do you guys think about this pipe? Is there a specific one out there that works better with our .18?

I have recently purchased a Nitro Evader ST. It's a great piece and I have it tuned great, but the only problem is the steering radius. It doesn't seem like it has that great of motion. I was wondering if that is the norm with the Evader.

madblunted, yeah it is funny... not quite on par with Homestarrunner in my book though.

Nitro Evader, I havn't really noticed a problem with the steering radius... have you tried messing with the steering trim settings on your controller. That will probably help... thats my guess.

Oh guys guess what? Electrical tape works wonders to hold the front shock tower together when your local hobby shop is out of a replacement and you need an immediate nitro fix! Yeah it held up for two whole runs, until It went over an embankment and the rear tire mount and drive shaft snapped. I can't believe it broke that easy, it's like 50 degrees out and the drop was only 1 foot... anyways, I am sticking to my guns and staying true to the code: "If you arn't breaking anything, you arn't having any fun." I'm having all kinds of fun. MAN, that thing can FLY... I am thinking about affixing wings

I agree with jacksprat about the steering, try ajusting your steering settings, you have 2, one to trim & the other to set the travel on your servo. it is the one on the left of your transmitter i think (stock radio gear only). the tuned pipe is the same as any 0.12 or 0.15 tuned pipe. if you want to buy a new one get one that will fit a 0.15 & you will be fine.

and yes Homestar runner has been a favourite around here for a while, my favourite weekly email is still trogdoor.

    Cheers
    Dicko.

Yea, homestarrunner is great, gotta love strongbademails,
but i think the steering radius is fine if u know how to use the brake and steering well.
I just accelerate (not to fast) to a point, brake while turning the steering wheel.
If u can do this then u could have like on the dime steering,

Yeah Baby, I finally got my spare clutch bell & a few other bits & pieces. I can finally get that clutch bell measured up to make a hardened steel one. My mate wants to make it out of stainless, but that might be a bit of over engineering (which he is all into). Once he has measured it the OS CV-RX will finally get run in (after the weather cools down, over 35 deg C for a week & no cool change coming till after the weekend, D'oh). I'll spend the time setting the shocks up a bit better, thicker oil & harder springs to be fitted tonight, new fuel tank early next week.

    Cheers
    Dicko.
