Mike no problem.

Rather than hijack Tubig's thread, use the e-mail address on the web site so we can share pictures easier.

Hi
Im only 13 but i plan on build a TF Spitfire. Do you recommend to model for me. I never had a r/c airplane building expericence. The only expericence i have is build a bridge, box, and a co2 dragster in woodshop class. are the plans straight foward and how are the flying charateristics. I never flown before.
thanks
billy

I've been building my spit for over a year. Before that i built a great planes trainer. Since you have not gotten too much experience i would keep it simple so you can get familiar with the basics. May i recommend an ARF P-51. Hanger 9 has a PTS trainer that comes ready to install the electronics, engine, final assemble. You will be required to fit the Cowl, install the servos, install the horns etc.. This would give you a great start on things. And you will be able to fly. The draw back is it's a P-51 and not a Spit. But its a war bird. Go to this thread and you will see that a lot of folks fly them and do modifications.

I would consider the TF Spitfire to be an intermediate build and an advanced flier. For a flying plane, I would recommend starting with an ARF (Almost Ready to Fly) .40 sized high wing trainer. For building, you might look at something like the Sig Four Star 40. It makes a good first kit and when you've learned to fly the high wing trainer, you'll be able to reuse the engine and servos from the trainer in the Four Star. The Four Star would make a good second plane. The Spitfire should be considered a third or even fourth plane. I would never recommend the TF Spitfire as a first flying plane. It will represent too much time and money to watch crashing your first day out.

i agree with the other posts. the spit does represent a substantial investment in both time and money and does require a certain amount of building experience. tackle a couple of other projects first and then give the spit a go. still, it's good to see some younger modelers who have the desire to make an airplane out of box of sticks. good on ya for that and good luck with your projects.

for pushrods I,d use stainless a 8foot length of 2.5mm stainless is only $3.00 cheap as chips less problems with flex and I use that plastic you get from irrigation shop(pop up)for outer liner all in all a lot stronger all round to hell with that plastic stuff its easier to solder linkages to also just my 2 cents worth
