Chip,
I am sure you are often asked about how to get involved with a UAV project, but if you don't mind could you offer your thoughts.

I don't want to sound arrogant, but I feel like I could be of use to a successful UAV program. I am a full scale pilot with multi-engine instrument commercial ratings. I am also a certified airframe and power-plant mechanic. Most of my flight time was accuired working for a photogrammetry (mapping from photographs) firm.

I am a full time firefighter and my schedule lets me spend alot of time on part time work.

With my experience with giant scale RC and my background in full scale aviation I think that I could be of use to someones UAV project. So how do I get into a UAV program, and am I quallified? Maybe I am way off base, if so please tell me so. Looking for your thoughts.

Thanks for your thoughts and time,

Dan

You are not way off base by any means, it should only take you a 3 minutes to get a job starting between 45K and 60K a year. Go on the net and do a search on UAV's then look for companies like AAI, General Atomics, Northrop Grumman, IAI, Lockeed Martin, and lastly DPA (only for a last resort) Send them you resume with all of your avaition experience on there as well as any instructor courses that you might have had along the way. Prior military seems to have an advantage, but not always.

Monster.com is another place UAV companies advertise there openings.

Hope this helps

Chip
