I'm getting a ZDZ 60 for a WH Edge 27% plane and I need a few of questions anwsered.

1. Can I use a 6 volt Metal Hydride battery on the ZDZ 60 standard ignition system and if I can what milliamp should I use, do I need a regulator??
I found the anwser to this question, the Falcum ignition will only handle the 4.8 and will need a regulator to be safe.

2. Is the ZDZ 60 a better choice then the ZDZ 50NG?

3. What is the best prop size for break in and after breaking in?

4. What is the normal break in time?

5. What is the best 2 stroke oil to use? I have non synthic (air cooled engines).
I found that the ZDZ's should be broken in on Penzoil non-synthic air cool 2 stroke oil, and after about 5 gallons run synthic oil Amsoil or Pensoil.

6. IS ANYONE ELSE USING THIS ENGINE ON THE WILD HARE 27% EDGE, please reply. I really would like to know if anyone has this setup with the ZDZ 60, I would love some pictures of the engine installed. I'm using the Supersonic Pitts muffler w/smoke, I'm afraid that the clearence on the cowl will be close, any information offered would be a big help.

The only question that I can anser is the last one, I had many questions about the ZDZ-60 so I am sure there are at least a few of them being used or planned. Maybe someone else will halp out on the others.

Thanks,
I have the ZDZ 60 ordered and expecting it tommorrow. I think this will be a perfect marriage and look foward to burning hole thru the sky. I may have to use min. throttle management but I love extra power. I still would love to hear from someone that has already used this same config. and has gotten to fly it.

Tom has really been a big help with the purchase on this plane, I've had numberous questions and he has replied with facts on every question. Wild Hare is a truly perfessional run business that takes time to care, thanks Tom.

I've have a question that even Tom is unsure of at this point.

Will the ZDZ 60 mount in the Wild Hare 27% Edge cowl with a SuperSonic Pitts smoke muffler offered through RC Showcase and have any clearence between the muffler and cowl?? If anyone has this motor already mounted and can offer me some pictures or information on installation. I think you would be helping both me and the next Wild Hare customer that is deciding to mount the ZDZ 60.

Thanks

A friend -is awaiting his Edge and the engine and muffler will be a ZDZ60 and the Supersonic Pitts from Showcase.
This is a setup should be a very good weight/power/ size match.
Having run and setup a number of these engines on in cowl and mufflers and tuned cans - I think it will also balance easily.
Dale is bringing it over as soon as it gets here -so I get a chance to paw it a bit --and I promise I won't drill holes in it ----

aerobatic 3d... I am going to be using the exact same set up as you, it looks like. I'm not a bit concerned about the ZDZ engine performance in this airplane. If fact, we are probably slightly overpowering it. While I believe just about everyone wants all the power that a high performance airplane can handle...there are torsion and vibration issues to worry about too. I really want this Edge to be my everyday flier so, I don't need to worry about the constant stresses that extra horsepower/rotating mass puts on an airframe. From all accounts, this appears to be a great flying airplane within the limits it was designed for. I can't wait for the 2nd batch to arrive.

I'm with you a 100% FlyOragnge, I only wished that you and the guy Dick mention had already installed you engine. I'm a little leary on the clearence in the cowl when using the SuperSonic muffler. I know this motor will be a mule in this plane and like you I have my ear to the ground waiting to hear the next batch has arrived from Tom.

Hello all,
I'll be using the same setup also, WH 28% Edge / ZDZ-60RV / pitts on smoke, should be a good combo.
Most photos, setups I've seen are with the DA-50.
Would like to see some with a G-62 also.

Geez! It sounds like all of us ZDZ60 guys are waiting for the our planes in this shipment. I have the 60 with the Pitts muffler and plan on intalling in my WH Edge. Can't wait to see some pictures of how it works for others. Anyone think the canister system that RC Showcase sells will fit in the Edge

Hey, here's a little news. I just worked a deal with Brison and Wild Hare will be selling the BRison 3.2 engines. Better yet, what we're doing is throwing in the upgrade to fully automatic electronic timing control for free. The selling price of the Brison 3.2 with Synchro-Spark timing, when purchased with a WH plane, will be the regular $450.00 price.

No muffler is included, but we'll be carrying a couple different muffler styles for the Brison and of course the DA 50.

The Brison is a tried and true design, easy to mount and easy to set up, and with the Synchro Spark ignition it will be a little more modern. I expect this to be a real nice combination with one of our 28% planes.

We should have some of them in stock soon, like within two weeks.

Brison lists theirs at 3.25 lbs. RCS lists the ZDZ-60 at 3.96 lbs. Manufacturers never specify what comes with that weight, but I usually assume it's everything except the ignition.

If that's true then there's a difference of 3/4 pound, a significant difference.

Any balancing considerations with that 3/4 lb difference?
Not problems -just considerations.
I don't have problems--I just consider the required location of things.

NO problems as such. Neither engine is heavy enough to require the rudder servos in the tail, just move stuff around or add an ounce or so of ballast in the tail. The Brison should be just right.
