Patrick,

I agree that anything can fail given the right conditions (as in your case). I just like that it is almost imposable to over charge or destroy Duralites when used with the Duralite charger.

There is a fire-proof lithium technology in existence which doesn't need safe charge circuitry.

They're called Saphion cells, and are sold by www.overlander.co.uk They still use a lipo charger, but are as safe as NiMH, but with twice the capacity for the weight.

I've been flying a 8s4p pack in an EDF jet, getting 10-minute flights.
