I am curious, is it easier to learn how to fly full scale airplanes and helicopters if your a proficient RC pilot?

You will understand principals of flight better, but no, I don't think it helps in actual flying.

It will vary from person to person. I did my solo in 9 hours and I have a freind that was able to land a Piper Warrior on his second lesson... Then again I've seen some rc guys take FOREVER to get their license. It's more difficult to fly an rc well than it is to fly a full scale airplane.

In general proficient rc guys will solo much sooner than someone starting from scratch. The understanding of adding power for altitude and adjusting pitch for airspeed as well as the general feeling of an airplane getting more and more sloppy the slower it gets helps you get the feel much quicker. Anyway this is me and my recently departed baby that I owned for 6 years if it uploads[image][/image]

And generally the full scale pilots are harder to teach to fly R/C too! Most I've encountered have a severe case of "knowitallitis". They usually learn the hard way, via their checkbook!

Then again my best and fastest student was a 727 captain. Soloed in three 15 minute flights

Good point, I've noticed the same thing. Full scale guys trying to act like they're aviation experts because they have a license. They do generally have a more difficult time learning to fly r/c. I think knowitallitis increases the learning curve because the mentality that you have superior knowledge and skill to the "mere ground bound r/c pilot" keeps them from listening to their r/c instructor...
But there are exceptions to almost everything.

The weather Sunday afternoon was great, but I busted half the elevator off of my Kat 40. Not wanting to waste the day, I took to the air in the full scales. Thought yall might like some of the pics that followed.

after a 11yr layover, I'm back in the game. Flew with a friend last week and it resparked my interest. 56 HRS left from late 1995 when I was 17 and I have to be refreshed and do some Cross country time and exams...
