Oh yes, I love the Blue Angels!! I plan on going to Texas A&M on a Navy ROTC scholarship an becoming an officer in the Navy. I also want to compete with the IAC in aerobatic competitions, I believe I mentioned that before. Yeah the Pitts has a spinner and different prop. We actually only put the plane together like that for pictures. If you look close, the prop. is held on by 1 bolt, inspection covers are not on the plane, the javelins aren't on the flying wires, and the wheel pants are just sitting there in the picture. The Pitts should be finished winter this year so I can start practicing!! Best of luck to you as well p-80! I hope to see you at airshows!!

I always wanted to learn to fly, so after 9 years in the Airforce as a maintenance guy, I started flying. Went private, commercial, CFI, and finally ag indorsement. I flew anything I could find for the next 15 years or so while still in the Airforce. I had started RC in 1972, so have stayed with that the whole time too. I retired from the Airforce in 1988 and went to work flying full scale drone fixed wing and helos. That was one place where rc skills really helped out. Quit that in 1999 and now just fly rc. The turbines are exciting enough for me these days. Still fly a full scale once in a while when the chance comes up. During my military days I did get stick time in B-52, B-58, KC-135, and finally the neat little F-16. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Bob

Asking doesn't bother me a bit. Let me give a little background first.

Brief History: The Pitts was built in 1978 by a man named Forshee. He had medical problems so he sold it in 1979 to a man named Dennis K. Brown who flew it at the Reno Air Races in the Bi-plane Class for quite a few years, up until 1989 I believe. He then bought an S-2 to race with while keeping this S-1C. When he sold in it 1993 I believe it was still based near Dennis. It was then ground looped and damaged around 2003. Then it was sold to a man named Jim Aaron in Tennessee who bought it as a project, Dennis lost record of the aircraft not knowing where it was. I then bought the Pitts last year for $7500 from Jim Aaron and brought it here to Texas. My dad and I have been working it for just over a year and have about 3 months until flying. The purchase was a steal because it is a complete airframe, both damaged and a new uncovered set of wings, and a lot of supplies. I have a website here with an extensive build log:
http://slick.grizzlyworks.com
I have now gotten in contact with Dennis and he is very glad that his plane will be returning to the sky! Dennis is currently the Bi-plane Class pylon instructor for the reno Air Races.

So to answer your question, we have probably put about $17-18,000 into the plane so far. The new Catto Carbon Fiber prop comes in tomorrow so look for updates on the website!!

Well, you need 40 hours of flight time and instruction along with various other requirements, but my dad is my instructor so it's free for me. If there is an airport near by there should be someone you can talk to about instruction.

Hi all! I just dropped in to see what is happening in the RC world. Saw this thread and thought I would chime in. I fly a highly modified Long-EZ and I race it in Sport Air Racing League races.

Saturday was hot, but it was a great day for some fun in the Yak 52. We did some formation passes on the deck and then dropped to extended trail to play follow the leader through some loops and rolls. This was my wife's first time in tight formation as well as aerobatic flight, but she loved it.

The best part is that she said I could have one if we could fly like that more often.

SWEET PICTURES!! So do you own the Yak or rent it? I love formation and aerobatics! Once the Pitts is finished I should be doing both more often!
