Guess I should chime in on this one. Started flying when I was 18 in KC-135's as a boom then decided that the back seat sucked so got my edumacation and got picked up for UPT on a ROTC scholarship... Flew T-34's then T-38's and now am flying the mighty BONE (B1-B) at Dyess. Here are some pics from our "deployed location"

I'm not sure that a Boeing 707 had ground prox on it, let alone still flying

Hey, I'll post a couple pics.
Here's me at Oshawa with a 152 and then me in a few years time...
I've got PPL and glider. Got both with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets.
I plan to become a test pilot, hopefully on exchange to the USAF TPS.

Are there any test pilot's on here?

Got my private last August in a Piper Warrior. Been renting 152's and 172's since then and trying to get up at least weekly. Weather doesn't always cooperate up here in the NW, so I really want to get my instrument rating. Hopefully in the next year or two.

My two year old boy really digs it too.

Jeff

Just saw this thread. This was taken as the sun was setting at FL360 over north Florida.

I started lessons in November '04. I always wanted to since I was a kid, but thought it was too expensive. Turns out it's not! Should have started this years ago... So far I fly Cessna 150, 172, Piper Warrior, Aronca Champ, and a Grumman Traveler. Won't be much longer before I have my private. I plan on continuing acquiring various ratings as well. Here is a shot of me taken the first time I ever put my hands on the controls. For about 10 minutes I had a death grip on the yoke! After 20 minutes, I knew I was going to be a pilot!

I trained and got my private in 150s, then took lots of training on the G.I. Bill. I got my Instrument, commercial, multi-engine and instructor ratings. Flew Cherokees (140, 180, Arrow, 6),Citabria, Mooney Executive, and Twin Comanche. Taught some friends and then we partnered on a used 1968 C172I N46130, (first year they used the 4-cylinder Lycoming.) I was in that partnership for about 18 years. Retired and sold my share and bought a motor home. Now an active RC Modeler, see 1/3 scale Balsa USA Ercoupe thread.

Don't think I've replied to this thread before. I should be getting my private soon and then will start working on my instrument. Here in NJ it seems like 1/3- 1/2 of scheduled flights are cancelled due to weather. I've flown a C172, C152, Piper Warrior, and Piper Cherokee 140. The Cherokee is my favorite.

I'm also training on a French Robin DR 400 (really nice plane). The weather is usually excellent and I have about 20hrs so far, and need another 25hrs. Theres not much in life that beats flying!

Great Idea!!! I have been flying models for more than 30 yrs. I also have been flying as a Pvt Pilot for 21 yrs. I couldn't leave well enough alone.. so I had to build a "real" airplane to fly. I wasn't smart enough to stop there and have just finished my 3rd full scale plane. It was so easy to fly. I let the club VP taxi it around. (thats him in the pic)..Sorry Joe.
