Full scale flyers....current or not....

....lets check-in, and see all you Guys and Gals. Post a pic too !

That's me on the left back in the '80's. Me and the other Guy, Lloyd
worked together as motorcycle mechanics, side by side for 14 yrs.
We were both former Marines as well. We went in, and bought the
150. We had a blast flying around to the m/c races and such....

Dave.

RC, let me guess a C-150F and wow you flew Air combat USA!! You lucky devil.

Anyway, Flew as much as I could in college. Kinda ran outta money, got a good job, now no time. Plus my wifes father flew United 32 years (B727). I had mentioned I wanted to start flying again and she about killed me. I said ok honey, I'll just get some RC planes. She was happy about that! So I stick to fixin em'. Get a test flight here and there! In college got time in a 150, 172, 172RG, Tomahawk, Warrior, Archer, Luscombe L8A, Mooney, Aztec, Skybolt, and a Waco UPF-7.

Hi guys. I am Ed, live in Montana and fly anything I can. I am building a full scale Long EZ, modified of course, and I fly a C-320 currently. Used to fly a Westwind which I put a picture up on, but the company decided they didn't want to fly anymore and the other company I flew jets for kept putting me on the road for months and I got tired of hotels. The 320 is a blast. We do Aerial Photography and I get to see some of the coolest sights in the country and if I want to detour to look at something, the boss usually doesn't say much. Never got to do that in the jet. Its all fun though. Been barrel rolled by one of Rutans test pilots in the EZs, which was pretty cool too.

Lots of fun stories. Its all good!

Race here...

5000hrs hauling bank mail and creepy things extracted from human beings in big boxes labeled
"biohazard" in my trusty (usually) C-210

Then there's the occasional "clean" work hauling living people in C-90/F-90/B200 King Air.

I can hardly remember the last hour I flew that wasn't in the middle of the night.

Race.

Started flying when I was 15. As the name implies...spent the last 5 years drivin' ag planes (G164B ag cat, AT301, C-188, Weatherly 620) Lots of hard, risky work and time away from loved ones for less than impressive pay...but I loved it. The aviation job marketplace is looking pretty pathetic right now so I took a full time job at my air national guard unit as a F-16 hydraulic technician. Cooshy govt. gig! I'm now building a Van's RV-7 to keep the candles lit...although I do miss the insanity of operating a rediculously overloaded aircraft in close proximity to immovable objects while traveling at a high rate of speed with toxic chemical flowing from the fiberglass hopper stuffed in my face while feeding future tumors and flying under powerlines and making women and children cry. But hey, I actually have time to play with my RC's again! (which is just as good)

Well I solo'd at 16 down at Santa Monica on a 172 and flew a 150 most of the time, no pictures though and a darn long story. the Army and Viet-Nam interrupted it all and they wanted to make me a rotorhead and dumb me said no thanks and went Special forces. damn go figure. Well I flew a bit afterwards and got to fly with Fitz Fulton in his 172 out of Mojave a few times, what a pilot he was! I haven't flown since the 70's and a medical is keeping out of it, not to mention funds!

I soloed just out of high school at age 16. Then got busy going to college and then Air Force and married and raising kids. Never got a license but not many people can say they soloed a Ryan PT-21/22. Picture attached. Plane belonged to my dad. I helped him restore it and a Parks P2-A and a J-2 Taylor Cub.

Sorry for not having any pix...I have flown for a living for the past 17 years. CFIIME, ATP, BE02, BE300, SD-3, DHC-8 and a partridge in a pear tree. I now fly a DC-8 around the world to keep the bills paid. Beats working for a living.

In my spare time....Super tiger, Somethin' extra, PBF, Ergo.

Formerly full scale but at the age of 79 I haven't flown as PIC for 6 or 7 years. Worked for Piper Distributor (West Coast) to pile up time. First flight, not solo, in Fleet biplane followed by a J-2 powered by a 37 HP Kitten engine, early 1941. Combat aircrew 15th AAC for WWII. I still miss having hands on the stick but reason tells me NO! By the way "Pappy" Piper got his multi in an Apache at the age of 62. He was a nice man.

Started flying in 1968 in a 150 and flew a number of different planes over the years. Owned a 1946 Ercoupe 415C for 10 years N3353H. Flew it over 500 hrs. until I lost my medical. My son does all the flying now. He soloed at 16, got his private at 17, and his instrument at 18. We both enjoy RC and fly as much as our time allows.

I got my license in 86 after learning how to fly RC. It got me hooked. I'm currently pursuing a Medical from the FAA a long process after some surgery's. But all the test are complete with good results ready to send off.

Soloed in 4.3 hours in a Cessna 150 in 1973. Soloed a 1947 Aeronca Chief (side-by-side champ, with no electrical system) in another 5 hours. Have time in Cessna 140, 172, 207 turbo, and a Piper 140. Never took the written to get the Private ticket.

Now I just watch the sky a lot and keep on building and flying RC

great thread!

I started flying in Dec2002, got my private 6mo later thanks to the weather being bad all the time Got half way through instrument and had to put flying on the back burner, was planning on going all the way. Flying is awesome, I got 150hrs in this last year, mainly in the Piper Warrior III PA28-161. What fun it is to fly somewhere for lunch and fly back home!! Cant wait to get back up there.
