You need to place your camera on macro mode so that it can focus on objects up close.

The size of the camera is irrelevant.

If the camera does not even have a macro function it is cheap. It is as simple as that.

This is my very first post here.

All this camera talk isn't helping me make a decision ...
Not only is the size of the camera irrelevant, but everything about the camera is irrelevant. What about the cars?

Let's see some bullet point pro/con arguments for people with short attention spans.

If you have been following this thread, you would see the camera's relevance. The camera was used to snap some horribly underfocused pictures of his car therefore we were unable to obtain a clear view. This is how the issue of the camera arised and if you are unable to see this relevance, I am sorry to hear that.

Please feel free to start with your bullet points.

the size is relevant, if it wasn't...laptops would be the same price as desktops.....things that are smaller would be the same price as bigger things that do the same thing.....the size is relevant

and Kerosene-AU, get an xmod....there better in my opionon....

What is the difference between the XMods and Mini-Z Racers?
There are a lot of differences but a lot of similarities as well.

XMods Mini-Z
Scale 1/28th 1/28th
Motor 130/180 130
AWD Optional No
Steering Fully proportional Fully proportional
Throttle Electronic proportional Electronic proportional
Front suspension Independent Independent
Rear suspension Single a-arm independent H-plate
Motor mount Mid Rear
Adjustable
weight distribution Yes No
Differential Yes Yes
Frequencies 6 AM 6 AM
Body Styles 4 More than 30
Upgrades available Some Many
Cost $50 $100-$150

great info: http://www.xmodworld.com/modules.php?name=FAQ&myfaq=yes&id_cat=1&categories=Xmods+Info

mini-z bodies fit xmods
you can upgrade to 12 am frequencies
you can fit 180 motors in a xmod, 250 and 260 work too!

Thanks ashamans. I think I will go with an XMod.
That link helped me out a lot.

I've been trying to find some clear and simple comparisons between the 2 cars, most things I've read end up telling me nothing.
Sorry if I seemed agro about the camera stuff

cool, i wouldn't discount the mini-z as well, but i still think xmods are better, first thing i would do is fix the steering by getting two 3.3k resistors and putting them inline with the orange and brwon wires on the servo

i think the only thing bad about xmods is the lack of upgrades

You know an easy way to remedy the X-Mods vs. Mini-Z thing is to have an X-Mod owner (ME) and a Mini-Z owner (Whomever) get together on an agreed upon track, and just race. Now I live in Little Rock, AR, I own an X-Mod, Stock motor with bearing upgrades. Still 2wd but it handles great, just gotta learn your car. A good RACER should never be hampered if he has at least a modestly decent ride, an X-Mod is just that, for the price, and I bet a stock Mini-Z with bearings, and a stock X-Mod with bearings would be at the least, a fun filled day reeming the two out, but that's just my opinion. I would venture two good drivers and two machines would be a very competitive race. If you are in the Little Rock area and wanna race, hit me up... rogueangel2k@hotmail.com I'd love to post the stats on this page for you all to see

2k

That would be great.....BUT

The problem with this is that the damn Xmod Xtal freqs are at weird numbers and not standard hobby grade frequencies, so when you have a buch of Xmods and MiniZs ready to go all you get is interference that causes the Xmods to stop whenever the car gets 3 ft within a MiniZ controller.

At our bi-weekly race event we tried to have a race with 2 Xmods fully modded with all factory RS hopups against 2 fully hopped up MR01s and a stock MR02 with all running PNracing batts and that is when we ran into the problem. We tried evey one of the 12 Xtals for the Xmods and none of them fixed the problem.

We had not yet tried a MiniZ Xtal set in the Xmods yet however so has ANYONE tried using other Xtal sets in the Xmods or other controllers and do any of them atually work? WE plan to do this some time soon but I was very dissappointed in the fact that the Xmods could not race against the Zs.

By the way just to add more of my 2cents on the debate, the Xmod controller SUCKS. This is just my opinion but if RS really wants to compete they will redesign the controller for version 2.0 or whatever they release as an update to the Xmod.

I really want to like the Xmod as much as my MiniZs, but the plain fact is that you get what you pay for.

With an Xmod you get a 50 dollar mid-grade Hobby RC car.

With a MiniZ you get a 130~150 dollar hobby grade RC car.

Im not going to argue what happens after Out of the Box upgrades start to fly as that can be debated forever, but out of the box there is not a doubt in my mind that the MiniZ destroys the Xmod, particularly if it is the MR02 Enzo, and anyone else who tries to make this argument just does not have both.

For anyone on the fence, if you only have 50 to spend on an RC by all means get an Xmod and do the steering fix, which I will say should not be necessary for an out of the box RC.

But if you plan to get an Xmod with all the upgrades that will run you about 140~150 and if that is what you have a stock MR02 MiniZ with soft tires will be a much better buy as it is a far superior car for the money spent.
