I read on the Battery clinic abt storing battery packs in the fridge...(not freezer). I took out my batteries from the fridge after abt 6 weeks and they were wet. I wiped them and set them up to dry...but found that some water still came out from them...

Have I destroyed these packs? I wont use them until I am sure. Right now they are dry and are NOT going back into the fridge...geez...I hope they are ok.

Thanks,
Anurag

Have you ever heard of condensation? If you touched them when they were "wet" and did not get any caustic burns from the electrolyte, then nothing came out of the cells. Seal them in a plastic baggie next time and don't put them under that dripping block of cake of ice in the ice box.

They were sealed in a plastic bag and were NOT under the ice case...

So finally do u reckon they are still usable?

99% chance that they are OK, but a couple of runs on a cycler would confirm beyond a doubt.

How could the batteries be wet in the fridge? Had water condensed on other items inside?

I guess the condensation inside was like any other fridge. Isnt this normal? Normally water bottles and soda bottles get moist..this is how it was....the plastic bag that contained the batteries probably retained moisture inside and this wet the batteries...

Geist,

Didn't you notice that Ragz is from New Deli, India? Some of you guys from Huston, TX (the humidity capital of the world) explain it to Geist.

well, I can't be much of a help for ragz, but I sure can confirm that it is nice and humid here in Houston (all year around flying possible too)
oh yeah....I wouldn't use any radio equipment again that has been wet (specially if water runs out). But that's just me (to picky with my equipment).
