I'm starting to get some "shine" on the car. That's my helper Kurt....and his helper Gus....gus watches the car for us at night....and asks only for a bowl of food for his services.

I got the rest of the blue stuff painted, and it came out good.
I put the parts in the dash, and it looks real good.

The car is going back together now. I'm making a major change, and it will no longer be a stock Model A on the outside. I've ordered up some trick exhaust bits.....all stainless steel....the exhaust will be running alongside the car on the outside...."lakes style".
The tailpipes are being made at a Marine fabricators in Florida....polished stainless steel. The tailpipes run directly into, and through the rear fenders. The headers are flexible stainless running out from under the car....like an Auburn Speedster or a Cord. The mufflers are highly polished stainless steel racing mufflers....straight through design.
....Dave.

....how much money in it so far ??
....you know, the money thing is all relative. Hot rods are kinda like race horses....
....anywhere's from 10 thousand to 10 million.... I didn't want to talk about the coin....but the fact is, that is the second question most people ask. The first question is...."what year is it" ?
Funny....small kids ask...."is that a real car."?....
Fact is....I'll probably put about $25K in it. In reality, that's a fairly cheap horse. If I pointed out....how much a lot of this stuff cost , you may not believe me.
I got the tires in, and mounted. 5 tires....3 warehouses. The new wire spare tire wheel hasn't come in. These tires are obsolete, but I rounded up a set.
I found out my spare was an old Cadillac wire wheel, and wouldn't have fitted as a spare.
Dave.

Here's a preview of the exhaust system. This should end up being pretty wild !

Here's the pinstriper at work....the whole car is double striped (two colors) and the hood got pinstriped flames.
I named the car "Acey Deucey" because the body is model A, and the front and back are deuce (1932).

The pinstriped flames are something new....I've never seen them. The striper calls them "3-D"....meaning, the red and blue....
....it looks really cool from about 10 feet away, and they are different.

Did you ever wire up a car? Me either....but luckily I had enough basic knowledge from my years as a motorcycle mechanic to pull it off. It took me 8 days to do the work. The first day was spent figuring the wiring out, and eliminating all the stuff I didn't need....like the power door locks, power windows, electric fuel pump, ect. To make matters worse....this 'EZ wiring system" is universal....meaning it doesn't fit anything....and it's made for Ford, Chevy, and Dodge.
Yeah, right. After cutting off all the unwanted wires, and figuring out the Ford system....I added all the stuff I needed that wasn't on the menu. Like adding separate wires for the turn signals and stop light, instead of using one wire for both, converting the charging system wires back to a generator system. I had to put my thinking cap on for that one. Then adding some custom features like a warning light for the hand brake, the neutral switch for the shifter, wires running back for two rear dome (love) lights over the back seat.
Then I added two ground busses up front, one on each side under the dash. Everything that has a ground wire on it, is grounded to the bus. The grounds for the instruments I made a series, like Christmas tree lights, and one wire to the bus grounds 'em all. A little over-kill, yes....but what the heck. Everything in the back is individually grounded as well.
Every connection is soldered, and has heat shrink tubing over it. That took time.

I finally got the rear parts of the car finished, and put on. I had to repaint the tank and fenders....in fact, I painted everything on the car twice. I made every mistake that can be made (I think) painting the car. But all's well that ends well....as you can see this stuff looks pretty darned nice.
The color sanding and buffing takes out all the inperfections, including some "roughness" (orange peel) and bumps (dirt and lint, ect.)

Thanks, Boss....
....I'm so far behind on this thread, it's not even funny. The car is finished, and I had it out to a car show this Sat....9-11-04. We had a nice memorial moment for the victims of the 9-11 Twin Towers disaster.
I forgot my camera. I do have this shot though....
I have some neat stuff to post....
Dave.
