Boss,

....my Son is an auto restorer....GTO's and Mustangs. He just picked up '65 Mustang
that had been garaged for 20 years. It had been torn completely apart for a resto,
but never touched. 800 bucks. I tried to do him out of it,.....

....but no dice.

Dave.

Well, as an update....the car has panned out pretty good. I had to replace
one of the mufflers because of a welding defect that broke through the surface.
The neutral switch on the shifter is acting up, and the switch on the hand brake
only works when it feels like it. I put a small red "idiot" light on the dash,
connected to the handbrake switch.

The horn button that came with the steering column was junk. It broke
trying to install it. It was a Chevy part....no small wonder. I put one of
those large horn button switches on the side of the steering colomn....
the kind you just slap when you want the horn to beep. I found out why
most hot rods use that type of switch.

I had a problem with the wheel alighnment....the "string thing" didn't work.
A Guy at a cruise told me how to make a homemade alignment jig, and it
worked just fine. I had to do some old fashioned "spoon work" with the
brakes to get them to not pull to the side.

All in all, the car is a wonderful sucess....everyone loves it, especially older
people for some reason. Perhaps a lot of them drove, or rode in those old
cars back in the day. Updates to follow.

Dave.

That old '65 Mustang Fastback my son bought for $800.00 turned out to
be a diamond in the rough....we sold it in two days for $8,000.00. It was
an old race car....kinda rough on the body, but it had the racing engine and
trans that was worth the 8 grand by themselves.

The engine and trans had been rebuilt to "as new" condition, and the car
had been in a garage for 20 years..

Dave.

Man, thats a money maker! Not a very trick engine with stock exhaust manifolds and a mechanical fuel pump..

I still have a few old cars on my hot rod list.. A fastback stang is one of them.

We had the racing headers, two sets of heads, another tranny, all kinds of stuff
that went with it. The rust free 65's Calif. types are like gold.

Dave.

I got a nice surprise....the car made it into the Early Iron section of Street Rodder
magazine....the Guy that did the write-up must have really liked the car.

I just had the car in our hometown local car show, about 130 cars.
I won the "Best Interior" trophy....I was shocked.

But I was very pleased.

I took the ol' Model A to the L.A. Roadster show on Fathers Day, where it
held it's own out in the parking lot.
