in my oppinion balancing a 3d plane is very easy, sport/pattern/imac planes are more difficult. for a 3d plane with big throws I balance it on its neutral point which means when you are inverted at 1/2 throttle the plane should fly level hands off, this will make all 3d stuff much easier - especially my favorite rolling harrier, now you may need to hold some elevator stick to fly straight horizontal and verticle lines at diff throttle positions with this tail heavy setup - so what, you wouldn't be on this list if you cannot do this. the only tricky part is ballooning on takeoffs, landings and during high wind - the fix is to put in a few clicks of down elevator trim - bring it in slow for a nice harrier 3 point landing using the throttle to flair rather than the elevator. a friend of mine tried to fly my tail heavy 3der, he was stalling and ballooning all over, nearly crashed - I noticed he was tying to put in some elevator then release over and over, this works for most sport flying with standard trims, but does not work for 3d where you are always holding some stick somewhere. before I would launch my 3der by hand then hover, torque roll, harrier all day, now I fly some traditional manuvers cuban 8 with full rolls, square loop with 1/2 rolls, etc - these are judged by straight lines and it is very challenging and exciting to fly my tail heavy 3d on straight lines, give it a try, fly in close, keep you speed down and consistent and keep those lines straight, I will be watching and judging.

Hello "cumn thru"
I'm sorry, but perhaps not even "Spirit" is on "Mars". I've seen a very short film in which Spirit draws too black ruts on Mars surface. Nasa Photoshop expert in graphic arts (I work in graphic arts too) has drunk too much whiskey.

Hi people

You all 3D experts say to place CG after.

I agree, but when I fill the tank (300 cc = 300 grams or so = 2/3 pound) the CG moves forward.

Then it's better to fly 3D when the tank is almost empty.

Are you agree, 3D experts?

I use the simulator te learn to react quickly, not to choose the easy way. "ARF" G2 is not very good, but helps about 50%, above all
when outdoors it's raining.

Generally flying 3D with the tank close to empty is not a good idea. Too risky of running out of fuel. Time flies when youre having fun, until your engine starts trying to run on fumes half way through a low harrier or hover!
Better to fly 3d for the first half of tank and then do smooth pattern(giving you enough airspeed to attempt a deadstick landing) for the next half, if needs be giving yourself just enough fuel for one more harrier landing to finish it off!

All that can be solved with placeing the tank on the CG. Full or empty, no change in CG. Joe

Yep but if we just set the CoG with the tank empty as most people do, we set it knowing that the CoG will move foward, so we compensate when the set the CoG. Or you can, as cumm thru said, place it on the CoG and install a pump.

Hello Joe

I hope plane manufacturers read your suggestion. Magic is ARF. I can't move the tank.

Hello ZepPilot

Where can I buy a pump (for another model)? Which kind of pump?

Thank you.

Well I havn't really looked into pumps that much and so, but I am sure if you ask around you may find some pumps from various manufacturers.

Although I do know that with some of their engines, OS supply pumps with them.

But really, having the tank behind the engine is perfectly ok for what you are doing it seems.

Or you could bung it all and go electric!!!

Here is an arf with the tank on the CG. I chose the Cline regulator over the pump for simplicity. Joe

Hi people

You are on all occasions little precise in your answers.

CG after? It's no use because when we fill the tank it moves forward.

WE MUST LEARN 3D MANOEUVERS WITH CG FORWARD AND AFTER. WE MUST GET A DIFFERENT FEELING WITH THE PLANE WHEN IT IS NOSE HEAVY AND WHEN IT IS TAIL HEAVY.

wake up - learn to fly and tr with full or empty tank the problem is that you get way to technical about crap. find the sweet spot on most planes and bingo - i t/r trainers and patern planes all the same as long as i have enough juice
