I have a large sailplane that I am about to use as an airborne photography platform. It is electrically powered by a Hacker brushless motor and runs on 7 cells. The fuse is plenty wide and long for a camera. My plan is to cut a hole in the bottom of the fuse large enough for the lens to see straight down. (I have contracts to take construction site photos on a regular interval.)

The plan is to hand launch and climb to altitude then glide over the site and snap the photos. Land, download, and go from there.

Is there a preferred digital camera out there to use for this? Cost is always a factor but more importantly I'm looking for easy access/removable storage media, minimum features, and good quality lens. I've been looking at the cameras in the stores and see a couple of compact models that may be desirable.

Thanks in advance!
Garland

I'm not sure what your requirements are but I have good luck with the Aiptek mini pencam. It is a 1.3 meg camera that is extremely small and easy to use. I use a 2 meter sailplane to carry the camera, other times I use a glow powered trainer. Check out some of the pics I have posted in this section. I had to lower the quality of the pics to reduce the file size in order to post them on this site.
