Hi.
What is the best fuel for 4 stroke engine? I asking everyone, and i am getting different answers. some people saying 15% nitro
18% oil. Some saying heli fuel(30% nitro 23 oil.) Yes heli one works great on magnum 90. No glow driver needed any more.
Try to use on new os 90 4 c. Engine works, idles ok. problem is sounds crazy. No stable, RPM goes up and down.
I have just 3-4 tanks through. Is that problem , because new engine? or wrong fuel?, or carb. ? or? ????.
Let me know if someone has any idea.
Thanks.

It's probably the glow plug?

Enjoy,

Jim

Read this. It was wriiten by a major manufacturer of fuels concerning the type of fuels for two and four strokes and is very informative.

If I'm not mistaken, OS specifically states to use 15% or less for breakin! I've found that you get some predetonation with anything higher on OS 4 strokes unless you go to a colder plug. This rubs the grain when to talk to most who recommend the OS F plug. If you are a sport flyer then stick with 15% in your OS. You can use your standard 2 stroke fuel for it and no harm is done! Good Luck.

You can use standard glow fuel with an 18 to 22% oil content. Unless you are looking for every last possible RPM out of the engine in the attempt to swing large diameter, low pitch props at the highest possible RPM for 3D, then stay with a 10-15% nitro content. Anymore isn't worth the cost, or the additional engine wear for everyday sport and acro flying.

I own several Saito, O.S., and YS 4 strokers. They all receive a steady diet of YS/OS 20/20 Powermaster. They all run sweet on it with little to no wear. I run up to 60% nitro in my YS race motors for race day and drop back to 20/20 for sport flying. All engines run
OS-F type plugs. I have run the same plug in my Saito for over a year now with flawless performance.
Give it a try, I think that if you tune right you will love the performance. Also, don't run standard patroleum based oils in 4 stroke engines due to the chance of swelling the O rings and gaskets in them. YS/OS 20/20 fuel uses only full synthetic oils.
Happy flying

My magnums and saitos run fine on 10% some of the blends 17 or 18% oil to be on the safe
side I add 3% castor and have never had a carbon buidup or cooked a bearing (or rusted one)

Hmmm;
I've never seen OS 20/20 fuel!!! I run 30% heli fuel in my YS's.

Wildcat and Powermaster both make 20/20. It is nice stuff. I only run Powermaster if I can. Wildcat seems to run differenty in my setups, so I stick with Powermaster.
Happy Flying

Powermaster and Performance Plus make a "YS" 20/20 blend but I've never seen it state "OS" on the package. I run the Performance plus YS 20/20 in most of my YS engines but use the 30% on my stunt/3D planes.
