I picked up a sweet used Yokomo GT4 Pro with an RB Concept x12 motor and took it out for the first time today. What a rocket!!! This thing is laughable its so fast. How the heck do you guys keep these fast cars straight? I went out to a large fairly clean parking lot, and was only able to hit full throttle one or two times. And that was just for a second or two. If I got much more than half throttle, the car would loop instantly. I had on a new set of foams, which made the car a serious mess with all the rubber everywhere. The traction will even be worse when I put touring tires on.

What can I do to help keep this car planted to the pavement? I messed with my controller to see if I could slow down the throttle because its almost a hair trigger. I cant believe how much power that little RB motor has. Unfortunetly, I broke a ball end which spit my dogbone, so my day ended early. Shouldnt I be able to open it up at, say 30mph without it doing donuts? Thanks for any insight. I'm an on-road noob.

How does the chassis set up look? How much ride ht. do you have? Check the droop to be sure it's equal. Same w/ springs, and check to see if there's any binding or hidden damage (is the chassis perfectly flat/ straight)...Also, foams can wear funny, and "cone" and sometimes you'll get different dia. tires that'll pull it one way or the other.

Without any type of measuring system, its hard to tell. The chassis is about 1/8" lower in the rear than the front, the rear wheels are toe'd in a bit, and the fronts are toe'd out some. It was almost acting like it was two-wheel drive with a rear diff thats too tight. Whats the best way to measure, chassis tweak, caster, camber etc. with these cars? The car is missing a couple of caster shims, but they are on their way. I guess the first thing to do is get the ride height equal. Thanks for the help.

BTW, I went to the Yokomo site to see setup tips, settings etc, but there is none for the GT4, just their electric cars.

my friend had the same problem on his GT4, what i did is lower his ride height, and replace a softer spring on the back, also check ur differential, if it's ball diff, losen it a bit, if it's a gear, u may wanna change the silicon oil which is not that viscous

99.99% of the time, this is due to incorrect chassis setup. Buy the xxmain setup guide book, it will become your bible. take a look at which way it spins out. most likely it will be the same everytime. this means that one of the rear wheels is getting more traction than the other. you will need to tighten up the shock on that wheel to transfer the unsprung weight to the other tire. when moving up to a good engine such as that one, it is a MUST that your chassis is setup correctly. If you cannot tell me right away what your current droop, camber, castor, toe, ride height, and shock settings are, you will never be able to control it. get a good setup jig and set up the car right. if one shock is just .5mm off of another one, the car will become uncontrollable.
