Hey yall,
I'm looking for a 1/8 scale nitro touring car thats RTR, for casual racing with friends. I still don't know if touring is for me, but I saw this and it has me kind of hooked.

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXWY62&P=0

Anyone have any stories, experiences etc. Any better cars out there for the same money? (no1 thing is it has to be fast as my friend is getting a 4 tec!!!!)

Thanks!
Robert.

the 4tec will aniallate the ofna. the ofna is basically a buggy with a car body on it. they are very fun, dont break very often, and an excellent basher, but handle very poorly, arnt very fast, and cannot ever be raced anywhere. If all the good stuff is what u want, get one and have fun. if the bad stuff bothers you, go with a 10th scale touring car similar to the 4tec your buddy has.

the fusion is the only 10th scale with a big block engine. This makes it unable to race at a track, but one bad boy for just playing in the parking lot. The fusion will easily out accelerate and out run the 4tec

What about the veilslide by Yokomo? I don't mind if its 1/8th or 1/10th, just want it to be fast and race legal and fun, aswell as RTR.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
RT.

anything that is race legal and RTR wont be fast. If you want a fast RTR the Shumacher fusion, the Traxxas 4tec, and the CEN CT4R are probably the quickest out there - but none are race legal. I think the only race legal RTR right now is the Team Associated NTC3. But it isnt very fast out of the box. There are plenty of race legal kits that will blow the doors off the 4tec, but now you are looking at building something and the costs will probably exceed 800-1600 depending on how fast you want to go.

That Yokomo is pretty fast. Comes with a .18 motor with only a high speed needle to tune, but for racing purposes it has more potential than the 4-tec. You can install foam tires, install a roar legal .12 engine and a faster steering servo and you would be way ahead of that 4-tec.

If your friend with the 4-tec did the same, he still wouldn't be able to keep up with you on the track. Provided that you guys are at the same driver skill.

Hey,
thanks for the replies. If the veilslide is not race legal then I think I'll get the schumacher cause there ain't no replacement for good ol displacement! lol
(I know I know, speed is not quick but c'mon)

I think that I'll take the veilslide. I was looking at the HPI rs4 type ss but I heard that the yoko is faster, and at the end of the day, its cheaper too (with radio and stuff).
Are there any other things that I should get for the veilslide or any other pointers?
Thanks all for your help.
Robert.
