Hey DP, what was the final weight on your DIII?

    Hi Propnut,

The dry weight without the batteries is 11 lbs. I have not checked the final weight yet. DP

Ok guys, I've noticed this thread has kinda slowed down...LOL! Everyone is waiting for Dai's maiden flight but until then I have a question. Since these Albatros's are tail heavy has anyone thought about powder coating the spinner on this plane to add nose weight? I'm thinking if you powder coat the inside and outside it could really help. Might not have to add so much lead to the nose. I was all so thinking the powder coating would be tough enough not to chip and you can get coatings in various colors these days.

Powder coat would be nice, since it would not chip easy. I would doubt that it would add enough weight to make much difference though. Bolt some lead to the motor mount, that makes a difference.

Dai Phan said a long time ago in this thread that the Albatros might be a hanger queen, I am beginning to think that he is a prophet as well as an amazing model airplane builder.

The plane had been flown but crashed on the first flight. As the result, I cannot bear to see the remains... I can't even think about RC planes at all without bringing back the painful memories.... I have ebayed all my planes and now am taking on stamp collecting. See my new "no panic attack easy going" hobby here...

Actually, it will be very soon of the maiden and I assure you it ain't gonna to be a hangar queen. The tail you should not sheet it and just cover over the open structure like someone on RC Groups did. DP

I know what it's like to wait for the maiden flight. Since I live in Iowa, I have to wait for spring to fly my completed Kawasaki Ki-61.

The Tony is from Don Smith plans, but I found a fiberglass fuse to use. The cat is a purebread breed called a Bengal, and it knows better than to scratch my planes!
