Nice job guys, They all look great!
I'm looking for an unbuilt Funaero Albatros DIII kit. I've tried contacting Funaero but they haven't replied in a couple weeks. Anyone have an unbuilt kit they'd like to sell?

Fun-Aero is not a large operation, call them on the telephone. Real nice people there.

I've called every day for two weeks, both in the morning and in the afternoon. I've left a phone message and sent an email. Maybe they are on vacation?

Hummm, if they were shut down for vacation for that long you would think they would post it on the web page.
Since you want to buy something its not like they are avoiding a 'support' call.
Hopefully Fun-Aero is not having problems, they have been one of the good guys so far.

Another few days have gone by and Funaero is still off the grid. Does anyone know them personally? I hope everything is OK.

For "Grins and Giggles" I also tried to contact them. I got a machine. When I was dealing with them before buying thier Albatros DIII I called several times over a couple of weeks, they were always availible and helpful. No idea what is up now. They are a family garage type business I believe and something could have come up. You never know. I am sure that they will be availible again. I talked to them a couple of times at shows and they really are helpful. Did you leave an email or phone message, lf so, leave several.

OK. Thanks. I sent one email and left one voice message. I'd leave more if I thought it would help. But in my experience, doing that just tends to P.O. people.

Still no unbuilt DIII kits out there?

Edit: Anyone know of another Albatros DIII or DV kit in the 60"-70" range? I don't want to go any bigger since I'm going to use electric power and anything in the 80" range is too big for me to transport and store anyways. I've tried getting the 71" DV from Jim Pepino cut at a laser cutting service but they turned me away saying they were too busy;-(

Schweet! I got through to Funaero this morning and ordered a DIII. I'm stoked. I really love sheeting fuselages with balsa. I can't wait to get started.

I ordered a couple Albatros books and am looking for a color scheme. I want to do the clear doped fuselage. Maybe I'll go with a Richthofen scheme I've seen with the overpainted red wings and tail and clear cuselage. Anyone know a good web page with Albatros profiles?

Read through this thread, there are some very important points to remember when building this plane. The build is worth the extra time spent reading.

No doubt about that, Prop Nut. I've read the thread a couple times now and I cherish the build descriptions. Thanks to everone who posted.

I'm going to use electric power and the biggest thing I'm going to work on is getting the tail light. I'm going to finish the sheeting with sanding sealer and WBPU. I might replace the sheeting with contest grade wood depending on how heavy the kit included wood turns out to be. But in any case, I'm going for light, light, light. I'd love to come in at 10 lbs RTF, but that may be too optimistic.

I received my DIII kit the other day. Lots of wood and hardware at a good price;-) I can't wait to start building. I had mused about converting it to a DV but won't make the descision until I start building. It seems rather easy. The formers would need a little added to them. The hard part would be where the tail feathers go. That area would need to be trimmed down.

When I was looking through the manual I noticed that section three which covers the wing construction was missing. Did everyone receive this section or is it non existant? I called FunAero a few times and no one answered. Does anyone know if there's a soft copy of the manual available?

Mine came with the wing instructions. Not sure if I can scan them though.
