For future reference. There is a place called Trillium Balsa in Canada where I have been able to get 6" wide sheet. The BUSA wing skins are just glued up sheets and won't be what you want.

I applied the WBPU on the fuselage tonight. Three coats and I'm happy.

The Min Wax Polycrylic works great over it. I have used this combo on about a dozen planes.

    Cocobear,
When it comes to building the Albatros you are the man as you do an excellent job of building and detailing them. I have seen the pictures from Top Gun on your Albatros.

Have you ever used Warbird Colors paints on top of the Minwax? If so, how did it work out? The reason I ask is I would like to use the Minwax stain as you suggest to get the plywood color on the fuse but I have stencils from Gary at getstencils for the Stropp and the crosses that I was going to paint with Warbirds Colors paint. Plus, I was going to use the Warbirds Color clear for some extra fuel proofing after it was all done. I asked Chuck at Warbirds Colors and he has not used his paints over Minwax so he could not say for sure how it would work out.. I do have Klass-cote paints too but I wanted to try the Warbirds paint because of it being water based and the colors for warbirds and WWI plane is a good match. Appreciate any info you can provide.

    Thanks.....

I Had better add my pictures of my DIII that I just completed. Flown in the colors of a Lt. H. Goring.
I made the machine guns from paper soaked with epoxy and rolled around a dowel then a dremel attachment was used to give the aircooling slots. the rest is balsa and ply scraps.Power is an ASP 91 FS and build weight was 10 1/2 lbs with 1 1/2 lb lead to balance.

Thanks DP. I hope to maiden shortly, after our local static display and when the ground is a bit softer, just in case. I heard that there is a new 1/4 scale Sopwith PUP in the area looking for a mix-up.

    Mark,

Your work is amazing. Thanks for showing us your plane the other day. After we left the field, guess what we saw hanging in the hobby shop? As I was taking the pic, the guy said no pics. He was just joking. Hope they do not mind. It's free advertisement for it anyways, right?

Sam, I saw that model hanging up last week and though how nice it would look on the field next to mine! It would make a perfect addition to your airplane collection;-) We could do some formation flying.

I painted on the fuselage markings. Gotta love those early WWI German crosses!

I am sure they will ship it to you

Just tell them you also want those two alpha 60s, the mustang, and floats for the cub that are pictured.

Do you think that 4 stroke get's hot in that cowling? I did not see any cut outs for airflow.
