Zpat -> FOD? (1/28/2004 11:16:09 PM)

I thought this was an interesting perspective of a landing.

invertedpass -> RE: FOD? (1/29/2004 1:28:49 AM)

You got to love those guys that fly for Uncle Sam. Those boys can do things I would never think of doing.
Great picture. [:D]

FLYBOY -> RE: FOD? (1/29/2004 3:35:31 PM)

Its farther down than it looks, but impressive quite the same.

LearjetMech -> RE: FOD? (1/29/2004 4:59:26 PM)

I think it is actually taking off

No1RCfan -> RE: FOD? (1/29/2004 7:30:14 PM)

By looking at the dust behind the aircraft i also say i think it is taking off.

justrfb -> RE: FOD? (1/29/2004 7:40:15 PM)

Please excuse my ignorance... What is FOD?

No1RCfan -> RE: FOD? (1/29/2004 7:53:23 PM)

FOD= Foreign Object Damage

FLYBOY -> RE: FOD? (1/29/2004 7:59:49 PM)

Yea, didn't look at it close enough. Your right. Would hate to see the abort!

justrfb -> RE: FOD? (1/29/2004 8:02:35 PM)

Thanks No1RCfan...

ShoestringRacer -> RE: FOD? (1/30/2004 3:18:23 AM)

actually FOD is foreign object debris. (any junk or objects on the ground where the plane operates)

FOD is what causes the damage.

No1RCfan -> RE: FOD? (1/30/2004 3:37:21 AM)

both terms are used interchangable

scottrc -> RE: FOD? (1/30/2004 3:59:36 PM)

"Ouch, a bolt just hit me in the head!"

History Channel last night had a special on runways and FOD. The runway inspectors have a cool job of driving at 110 mph between jets scoping out any material that might be on the runway. I saw one inspector at Dallas with a Corvette screaming past the MD80 I was on. They also do a lot of critter control (rabbits, dogs, geese etc.) that can be known to be feathered or furry FOD.

LearjetMech -> RE: FOD? (1/31/2004 2:45:11 AM)

Shoe is correct! RC1, "Foriegn object damage" is a very misused term!

No1RCfan -> RE: FOD? (1/31/2004 4:25:34 AM)

I was taught both terms in the sense that FOD causes FOD. Either way we dont want either one of them around full scale aircraft of any kind.

Zpat -> RE: FOD? (1/31/2004 9:02:15 PM)

FOD = BAD

WhiteRook -> RE: FOD? (2/4/2004 11:58:22 PM)

yea, i remember those early morning fod walks we used to have
when i was in the AF in Alaska.

Rotorwrench -> RE: FOD? (2/5/2004 2:02:59 PM)

We use the term FOD in both ways. Foreign object debris is before it can damage the aircraft and foreign object damage is after the damage is done.

rc12 -> RE: FOD? (2/22/2004 10:18:31 PM)

Nice way of stateing it Rotorwrench.

jettstarblue -> RE: FOD? (2/27/2004 12:27:52 PM)

FOD line, foreign object detection line, or walking the deck of the carrier to look for junk....

FLYBOY -> RE: FOD? (2/27/2004 3:49:21 PM)

Its used quite a few ways. My first jet flight ever ended with the left engine fod. Cost us a quarter of a million bucks. Not fun. Don't matter what you call the crap going in, it is expensive.

Geistware -> RE: FOD? (2/28/2004 12:21:58 PM)

Too bad that he doen't have afterburner. He could clean the runway with one pass

BaronSchwab -> RE: FOD? (2/28/2004 4:37:02 PM)

Thats one heck of a takeoff. I don't want to see the flame out.

jongurley -> RE: FOD? (3/2/2004 7:44:26 PM)

I wouldn't want to see anything but a gain in altitude..[;)]
