Ok, so I have a newly converted Ryobi engine. I want to go to electronic ignition to save some weight. Anyone out there convert this engine to electronic ignition? What is the all up weight? I'm wanting to put this in my cermark pitts, but unless I can get the weight down to 3lbs or so, I think I'll end up going glow (YUK!).

Zip,

My Ryobi Conversion on ignition weighs 50 Ozs. ( 3 Lb 2 Oz) with a Jag Muffler installed. This is close to your target weight.

Awsome! I was really wanting to use this engine on my cermark pitts, but needed the weight to be low. I think 50oz sounds darn good. Thanks for the info Scott.

Hey Scott, just tried to visit your site and it gives a html error? Do you know where I can get some new rings for this engine. one of mine broke. I've heard Frank Bowman makes them, but I'm not getting a response from him. Thanks for the help!

Ryobi 31 on CH ignition is a very popular set up. I'ver converted several of these in various manners, all of them weighed right around 3lbs. That's without the ignition, but I don't like to count that in the all up weight of the engine, because the module and battery are usually mounted behind the firewall and contribute less to the CG balance. Besides, a good number of my glow-powered planes have onboard glow driver, so there is always some added engine-related weight behind the firewall anyway.
