My wife has thought over the past thirty years that I was addicted. Some of you characters take the cake.

My models are pretty much my own designs. Pretty well all flying wings. I will buy flying wings if the price is right. There isn't one that I couldn't get flying.

To prove a point I have taken a number of standard aircraft, horizontal stab, and converted them to flying wings. They have all flown exceptionally well.

No point in listing them. I did find it necessary last year to build a 12 x 14' shed to move some models out of the house.

The question of what airfoil works best. They all do. I am continually designing new airfoils.

My next big challenge is designing a DLG flying wing that will hopefully compare with Mark Drela's gliders and a flying wing that will be 3D capable. My 91 Powered wing is ok but it's still to heavy. I am going to try using an OS 10.

Aside from the Flying Wings I have built many scale free flight catapult launched get aircraft. I have 200 kits in my shed that I was hopping to sell. Gave that up. No one in Canada is interested in working with Styrofoam.

Attached are a few photos.

Where do all of you keeps your collections of planes. I just started my first kit (second plane) and already don't know where to put it when I am done. I am 14 so I don't own the house or have enough money to buy a shed/shop/hangar/etc.

10 to 12 seems to be a good “average” amount. You can fly most of them enough to keep current and not get bored with just one or two.

Flying:
H9 Alitalia CAP 80” Moki 2.10 2C glow
H9 Edge 540 78” Moki 1.35 2C glow
H9 P-51, 60 sized YS 91AC glow
H9 UltraStick 1.20, 80” G-23 2C gas
GP Extra 40 sized OS 46FX 2C glow
GP Patriot TT40 pro 2C glow (ducted fan trainer!)
SIG CAP 231EX 72” RCS 1.4 2 C gas
Midwest Citabria 80” OS 91 4C glow
Morris Su-do-koi YS 53 4C glow
Raptor 30V2 OS32SX-H 2C glow
Goldberg Electra 78” speed 400 geared motor

Down for Repair:
GP Lancair 80”. Waiting on YS91AC engine to come back from pals repair shop

In the box:
Morris Su-do-koi (spare kit)
H9 1/3 Scale CAP 232 (saving for engine, servos, nits and bits)

In the sights:
T-2 “Buckeye” jet ducted fan kit with appropriate OS ducted fan engine. Winter project
H9 1/3 scale Sukhoi. Price just keeps coming down! ZDZ 80!
H9 ¼ scale Super Cub, will modify to look like Aviat Husky. Price also just keeps coming down. Moki 1.35!

I got back into the hobby March of 2003. Now I have four planes ready-to-fly, one on the table, and five more new in the box.

My biggest problem is that I'm not into building that much. I love flying, but building seems like homework to me. That being said, I'm like a proud papa when I finish a plane.

Airworthy:

Hobbico Avistar #2 - OS .40 LA, Futaba - SkySport 4VF
Hobbico SkyVista - Tower .46 ABC - Futaba SkySport 4VF
Thunder Tiger Lazy Tiger P-51 - OS .40 LA - Futaba 7 Super, Model #1
Great Planes J-3 Cub ARF, with GP floats - OS 91 FS - Futaba 7 Super, Model #2 (bought used)

Building:

Great Planes Super Sportster - OS .46FX - Futaba 9CAP

New in box:

Great Planes Lancair - Saito 100 - Futaba 9CAP
VectorFlight Edge 540 - Saito 100 planned - Futaba 9CAP
Dave Patrick Ultimate 1.20 - Saito 180 planned - Futaba 9CAP
Soarstar Electric - future airborne video platform and park flyer
Alfa F4U-1 Corsair - electric park flyer

Simulator:

RealFlight G2 with Addons 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

Crashed:

Great Planes Cherokee - OS .46SF (my only kit build, probably my last...) Crashed on maiden due to loss of control. Was flying fine until my Dad asked the test pilot (not me) to do a snaproll. Before I could say "No heavy acrobatics on the first flight" the guy did it and the plane went dead after that - maybe a loose batery or just bad batteries - those old NiCads were sitting around for three years while I built/ignored the Cherokee.

Hobbico Avistar #1 - First plane when I got back into hobby. Crashed into a tree on maiden due to cocky pilot (me) thinking he could just go out and fly after ten years off. Remember to reverse ailerons/rudder when the plane is flying towards you!

If they were NiCads and hadn't been charged in those 3 years, then they were probably pretty dead.

Any who:

Built:

Great Planes spirit 2M
Ripmax CPLR Alliance EP
West wings Beguine
Galaxy Scorpion
ARC Ready 2

On the board:

Fiery Firefly Mk 7 (plan for S400)
Le Petit Brochet (as above ^ )
Druine Turbulent (scale for a .25 but converted to brushless)

Nib:

Herr Cub
GWS Formosa
GWS Spitfire
Great Planes Easy Sport .60
Ben Buckle Junior .60 (destined for S600 conversion)
