I'm going to be getting a T3D soon and I was wondering what would be the best motor for this plane. I would like to hover at about half-throttle but I can't afford brushless. I was looking at the 7.2v IPS-Twin. Anybody out there using this motor on their T3D? Any other motors you sagest?
Thanx,
Eric

Seems like it should work...see T3D thread here as well...

I would go with a 2s 340 Kokam pack, your weight should be similar to my stock T3D with TP 730 pack, but your thrust is going to be much, much nicer...should go vertical decent and hover half-throttle as you state.

You'll need to move those batteries as far back as possible to get a good CG, since your motor is heavier than the IPS.

If your weight comes out around 5 to 5.5oz, it should be a good performer.

Keep us informed,

Johnny B.

I got my plane done and it weighs about 4.9 oz w/o a battery and the IPS-Dual. A am currently waiting for a 3s kokam 340 and etec 2s 700 packs to come. In the mean time I was bored so I through a 110mah nicad 7 cell (2oz) pack in and whent into the front yard. One word AWSOME! On the nicads it hovered at about 2/3 throddle. I can't wait to try the lithos!
