It is due out March 16th. I wonder if it will stir up interest in the planes in the movie? If so, I am way ahead of the curve! I am quite far along in the design of a 1/4 scale version of the AVRO MkIV Triplane. (Terry Thomas' plane.)

Happy Landings!

Dear Chevelle:

The PIPE Here once more-my Swizzler is STILL awaiting the completion of its repairs... ...but I ALREADY mentioned THAT great upcoming DVD release in a thread you can find at http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_418463/mpage_6/key_dvd/tm.htm ...MY post there announcing it is post number 169 on the sixth page!

I've already got the WW I AERO issue no. 81 (from the early 1980s) covering the Demoiselle (drawings GALORE in THAT one!!!), some Antoinette info exists in the WW I AERO Master Materials List at http://www.ww1aeroplanesinc.org/docs/master_materials_list.htm [as well as for a WEALTH of OTHER Pioneer Era planes that SHOULD have been in that movie!!!]

And I also have a Sig Four Star 60 to kitbash into a CROPDUSTER this winter and Spring...and my Rhinebeck Fleet Finch to restore for flying at the RC Jamboree at the Aerodrome (IF the board of trustees does NOT cause the place to self destruct -link at http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=13774 in case you'd like to read yourself, Chevelle, how that whole sad story is playing out) later this year as well!

And a SECOND MicroStar knobby RC computer radio to start up building this Spring as well...so I've got a WHOLE LOT of irons in the fire!

At least the DVD WILL be welcomed by both of us...and the ONLINE version of the WW I AERO Master Materials List should have the drawings that COULD inspire a good many Pioneer Era RC SCale aircraft subjects into the air!

Yours Sincerely,

The PIPE!

Not sure whether you're aware that several of the aircraft are still around and in flying condition. They're held at the Shuttleworth Collection of Veteran and Vintage aircraft at Old Warden Aerodrome, at Biggleswade, not far from Cambridge. People travel the world to visit this surprisingly little known collection which includes not just the 'Magnificent' replica's made for the film, but many priceless WW1 aircraft from both Allied and Axis camps, as well as several from the Golden era.
I've visited many times on their flying days, the best of which are the summer evening flights, where conditions are calm enough for one of these replicas to fly.
It's a very evocative Golden era aerodrome, all grassed, usually quite a relatively small scale affairs, where people take their picnics and care is put into the programs to allow the spectators close proximity and excellent flying shots.
I can still smell the Castor oil, and hear the crack from the interrupter on those rotary engines.

Oh indeed I am aware. Much of the data I have is from detailed pictures of the Shuttleworth AVRO. I had the pleasure of a business trip to Cambridge and spent 3/4 of a day at Duxford. I though I was going to take a second trip shortly thereafter and had intended to go to Old Warden. Unfortunately, that is not in the cards for now. I have a video tape of the collection and someday I hope to get to see it in person.

If anyone is having trouble waiting another month (I know I am); I found, in a very unlikely place I might add, an MP3 file of the title song to the movie.
I could either email it to you, or you can find it here . If you scroll part way down the page, you'll find it in a list of links....
