Hi everyone,
Has anyone out there built Dave Robelen's Mr.Bones? Any performance tips, flight ideas? It's a electric ducted fan (EDF-50) and I'm running mine on 6 350 mah NiCd's. It was published in Backyard Flyer a few years back. I finished mine about a month ago and it is great. I'll try to post some pictures in the near future.

Steve,

Have you thought about a 6 cell battery from Kan 650's? Should be about the same weight, but longer duration.

Greetings,

Yup, still have my Mr. Bones. Although she is pretty well beat up. A fragile ship, yet nice.
If you have not made the lipo jump yet, a 7 cell 270ma nhm pack worked very well with this ship.
With the newer cells, I would use the 350-400's.
I use Rose, no pink, food wrap attached with glue stick. Super light.

Thanks for the advice. My only problem is that I need the weight of a 350 mAh GWS 7.2V battery for balance. I put my servos too far back. Would it be smart to move them up and swinch batteries or should I leave them?

That is nice! Is it made with all the balsa substituted with fanfold which I assume is the same as coroplast? (I think I might make one since the balsa version is very fragile.)

You will have to separat e the fanfold to lighten it up.It is very tough, not as tough as coro but stronger than balsa

I tried to fly this thing after I painted it (added 1/2 oz + -) and it would not get more than 10 feet off the ground.I guess that 9 oz was the max for the edf50,so I shaved off some and got it down to 8 1/2 oz with paint and she flies! So if you are going to make one, make sure it is well under 9 oz RTF,or go with a EDF55

Cool,

I just moved my servos forward so I could use a different battery. I also re-covered it in green. I hope I can get some pics up soon.
