Default TF FW190 - Spinner Help !!!

I have TF FW 190 that I am finishing up and the instructions call for a 3" standard type sport spinner. Since the FW190 had a more blunt spinner and not pointed like the sport spinner, does anyone know if a more scale looking spinner is available? Any help is appreciated.

A Tru-Turn FAI spinner is more blunt than a standard sport spinner, but take a look here:
http://www.odyssey.dircon.co.uk/VBv190.htm
Looks more like a P-51 spinner. I think the FAI spinner would work better on an ME109.

RichLockyer:

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. After seeing the profiles, I agree that the FW spinner is probably most like the P51 but a little narrower at the base. I looked at Tru Turns web site and attached their spinner shape offerings. I think the FW spinner looks like Tru Turns "special" shape spinner. What do you think?

By the way, I went to the full scale warbird airshow at Chino in May 2002. Great show.

Your 190 is about the same size as the one from Pica. Use Pica's 190 spinner.

Tru Turns "Special" spinner is too long and not blunt enough. Pica aluminum 190 spinner looks pretty good, but you have to cut out the slots for the prop blades.

If you can wait about 30 days, we will have a scale FW190D-9 spinner available. It will be aluminum with the prop cut-out (2 and 3 blade version)

Mike, that's excellent news. I will wait for your FW190 spinner. Will it be close to 3" in diameter or slightly smaller? I hope the prop slots are large enough to accomodate a 15x8 prop.

It will be 3-1/4" and should be able to fit a 15 x 8 prop.

Mike:

Thanks for the great news about the spinner. Since I live in Michigan and temps are presently around 15 F with 10" of snow on the ground, I won't be flying for a few more months, so I can definately wait 30 days.

By the way, I bought your Avenger kit last summer as a retirement gift for my father. He just started building it after the new year and he is very impressed with it. Thanks and keep up the good work.

another option on the fw190 spinner is bob holman. http://bhplans.com/ he has one for a 60 size fw that are better than the pica, but they have a somewhat unsightly flat bladed screw head in the center of the front of the spinner. the one from skyshark might be better- but if its like the one from pica forget it. they\ pica is a real pain to keep together- expecially if you use a starter on them.

Price on the spinner will be $28.95. It will have a 10-32 bolt down the center and require a Tru-turn or Dave Brown spinner adapter kit to fit the appropriate engine. It is machined aluminum - polished.

As said earlier; use the PICA spinner.

It's $28.95 and available at http://www.picaweb.com/

Mike, how is your scale FW190D-9 spinner coming along? Is it close to being released?

I`ve used the Pica spinner in the past, worked well. In the `70`s, guys that built the Platt/Pica kit, including me, would use a "Leggs" pantyhose container for a scale-looking spinner with ok results. The good ole days, right.

I also have a Pica aluminum spinner, but I don't like the idea of cutting out slots in aluminum for the blades.
