Hello Everyone, I am wondering if anyone can give me some help. I just bought a GP Patriot kit for dirt cheap, 50 bucks, and I had this idea after looking at the kit in the box and the plans ... What will it take to go ducted electric fan? This looks like the kit to do just that so I was wondering if anyone has done this or saw it done. Id like to have some pretty good info before I go hacking away at it. Yea 50 bucks was cheap but I just dont want to get half way done and circular file the whole project. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated .....

I see no one has tried to answer your question so here goes. I've had the patriot and my brother is building another one himself, you are looking at a very major redesign here since there are no provisions for intake ducts and all the radio conponents are mounted in the fuse not to mention the fact that there does not appear to be enough dia to the fuse for the size edf you are going to have to use. it would be very heavy to boot.
now if you are serious about a patriot edf, think about desiging one from scratch using either bifold pink foam or depron, still a major redesign but you do have the original to go from and less chance of having to round can the original kit. actually a patriot edf kinda sounds interesting. let me know what you decide to do.

I also just got a Patriot and I'm looking to convert it to an electric. I'm going to stay with the prop in front, but this is a pretty heavy plane with retracts. Do you have any idea what size engine I should use??? I figure I'm going to need to run between 14 and 20 cells. Any advice would be appreciated.
