Hi,

I recently bought a second hand eb4 buggy, If i push down on top of the buggy it does not spring back to it's original postion.. is this normal ?, i also have a rally game chassis based car for on road which will spring instantly back to it's normal position.

the eb4 has metal dampers and I have pulled the suspension apart and rebuilt it and all the insides of the damper seem fine, i have tried thicker damper oil and using spacers which helps but should i have to do this?

Also i took the EB4 out today just on short grass and found that it was rolling over quite easily would this be because of the suspension ?

please let me know

Cheers.

Yes, that's what spacers are for, to adjust the preload and the ride height. It could be rolling over because the height is to high, or because your oil in your shocks is too thick or too soft. Try adding a sway bar in the back or if there's already one setup, add one to the front.

this is a common problem with the original EB4, but can be fixed easily. Take the shocks apart, and drill out the hole in the piston to approx twice its normal size. then replace and fill with 40wt oil. this will solve the problem.

Thanks Nitroaddict for your previous help.

I did what you said and put 40 watt oil in the front dampers, I did not bother drilling out the hole in the shocks to twice the size as the shocks are not the original EB4 anyway. I also made some adjustments to how the shocks were attached to the chassis so they were not pushing quite so hard.

This has made a great difference and the car practically never rolls even on very fast tight corners.

Generally the car really hugs the ground well, The only problem I seem to be having now is if the car hits small bumps/nicks in the ground the back end seems want to come up (any ideas).

This car is very well upgraded and customised, the bloke who had it before me gave it a lot of love and attention, I will take some photos when i get back later tonight and show you the position of the car before and after i have put pressure down on the car and see if that will give you any clues to my setup as i realy do not understand this sort of stuff very well.

cheers

you can see my two eb4's in my gallery. One is an S2 Pro, the other is Limted Edition.

If the back end is boucing around, it means it is too stiff.

Thanks for the reply,

The back end is not bouncing around , it just seems to lift up when the front of the car hits some types of bumps so I think its still more to do with the front suspension prehaps it is too soft now ???

I have 40 watt oil in the front and 60 in the rear have you any recommendations as to how you would set this up ?

I have put some pictures in my gallery of the car , sorry it's so dirty had an awsome day out with it today! , have not had chance to clean it up yet, the Before and After pictures show how the car returns after I have pushed the car down as far as it will go, I have also taken pictures of the shock setup.

Cheers

yep - after looking at your pictures, you need to drill the pistons.
