Mach1GB -> Fliton Jumping Jack (2/2/2004 1:05:02 PM)

I am interested in buying the Filton Jumping Jack but can only find one stockist which is Clays hobbies who are currently out of stock. I cannot find any where else that stocks Filton products. I am in the UK so would prefer a european distributor but would buy from the US. Can anybody help me?

I have a Hacker B20 15L, do you think this would be suitable for the above model?

Thanks for your help.

Matt

www.B-P-P.com carries the Jumping Jacks.

I own one, and have more on the way, it is an AWESOME plane, best 3d or precision plane, glow or electric, I have ever flown. I find myself taking it out to the field with our 40% planes, spend 20 minutes rigging up the 40%, fly it twice, and fly the JJ 6 times [&:]

Its deffinately a keeper, and the B20 15L should be a superb combo with the plane, Im using a Lehner 1015/20 from B-P-P.

Thanks for the info Josh, thats just what I was after. An email has gone off to Bishop Pwer Products as I do not see it listed on their website.

Anybody else know of any stockists?

Thanks again.

Espritmodel.com Located in Florida (USA) I have one fly ok but bad setup do not like how it goes togwther all tape....Using B-20 15L 11.1 2100 LI Poly...Short fly time as hacker drws a lot of power...

JoshFlies3D -> RE: Filton Jumping Jack (2/17/2004 5:59:27 AM)

The only tape on the model is to tape the cowling, top fuse, and the surfaces on. Worked fine for me For Very many flights with nothing falling off or etc. Just clean the surface and use good tape.

Thanks for the replies. I have managed to source a Jumping Jack for espritmodel.com and just waiting for delivery. What tape would you suggest using Josh? I also wondered what servo's you guys are using? I have some Hitec HS55's going spare, would they be powerful enough?

Jdef1, what prop are you using on the Hacker, I have been using this setup and got over 20mins on an 11x4.7 and Thunderpower 3S1P 2100 Lipo's. I have seen a 11x7 prop recommended, what do you think? What tape have you used, have you had bits fall off?

Thanks for the replies

Matt

JoshFlies3D -> RE: Filton Jumping Jack (2/25/2004 3:48:02 PM)

Matt

I have tried the 11x4.7 and 11x7's on Hacker's, I feel the 11x4.7 is the best prop ive tried thus far, Someone mentioned a 11x3.8 but I havent tried it.

The HS-55's are perfect in the JJ, they fit in the slots without modification, and have plenty of servo power for each application. Dont even blow back at full throttle with a Lehner 1015/20
( about twice the power of the Hacker 15L)

Thanks for the reply Josh.

Anybody got any recommendations on what tape to use or not to use on the Jumping Jack?

Mach1GB

JoshFlies3D -> RE: Filton Jumping Jack (3/2/2004 1:31:27 AM)

Since it is covering I would imagine "100MPH tape" or Prather Products Radiobox tape would work great. But I used 3M Red labeled Scotch tape, same stuff I use on my Foamy's, and it worked flawlessly.

Josh

Thanks for all the info on the Jumping Jack. I've flown her a couple of times and I'm really impressed. I was thinking she could do with a little more power though.

I am interested in your set up with the Lehner 1015/20 and wondered if you could provide me with a few more details. Does the motor come with a gearbox, if not what are you using? What prop do you run, what speed controller, and what batteries do you use?

Have you any idea what weight your JJ came out at as mine with the HAcker setup has come out just over 600g, 100g heavier than stated on the box. Would the Lehener reduce the weight?

Thanks again.

JoshFlies3D -> RE: Filton Jumping Jack (5/5/2004 6:36:47 AM)

Hey,

I am running a Lehner 1020/15 in a GWS "D" gearbox with a B-P-P CNC Adapter plate and B-P-P Stainless Steel Pinion gear. Really smooth and absolutely silent running setup. Puts out SERIOUS power. Literally about 4.5:1 + on my JJ

I was using the Phoenix 25 ESC and a Kokam 1020mah 3S3P Lipoly. I perfered the GWS 11x4.7 prop.

Troy from www.b-p-p.com , Bishop Power Products, can hook you up with this setup, and it was an absolutely perfect combo for the JJ , IMO.

My JJ weighed 15.2oz RTF

The Lehner does weigh almost an oz lighter than the Hacker. The Lehner has a carbon fiber case, this saves some of the weight.

Im glad you like it, Its a really awesome plane. Your's turned out nicely and looks awesome.

Mach1GB -> RE: Filton Jumping Jack (5/5/2004 11:12:22 AM)

Josh,

Thanks for all the info, thats exactly what I was after. An email has been sent to Troy at BPP for info and prices. I have a set of Thunder Power 3S1P 2100 Lithium Polymers do you think this would be suitable for the setup you have described?

Thanks
Matt

JoshFlies3D -> RE: Filton Jumping Jack (5/6/2004 2:28:34 AM)

Yeah, they work, Ive used em on the setup, they just cant handle nearly as much amperage as the Kokams or a tanic, so the power is significantly reduced.

Josh

ThinWings -> RE: Fliton Jumping Jack (5/6/2004 2:45:30 AM)

Josh..

Your motor gear is a 12T?

Albert

Mach1GB -> RE: Filton Jumping Jack (5/6/2004 5:28:18 PM)

Josh,

What sort of power would I get out of the Thunder Power batteries on the Lehner? More than the Hacker?

Do you mean they can't handle as much amperage because they are 3S1P's where as your Kokams are 3S3P's or are the Kokam's a better battery, I thought the Thunder Powers could handle up to 20a with the rest not able to handle as much? On the website where I bought them it says they are good for 16a/22a bursts?

Thanks for your help.
Matt

ChuckAuger -> RE: Filton Jumping Jack (5/6/2004 5:48:31 PM)

Josh must have a special Lehner..mine does not have a CF case, it's flat black painted metal.
Dang nice motor anyway!
Troy at B-P-P says the 12 tooth pinion is as small as you can run on the Lehner...if you drill a 10 tooth out to fit the shaft, it doesn't have enough metal left.

My Jumping Jack is so AWESOME. Great Choice Josh and friends.

Felix72 -> RE: Filton Jumping Jack (9/22/2004 10:18:54 AM)

Hi Josh,

you are talking about the JJ electric and also glow powered.

My JJ is arriving, and I wish to know more info on the glow setup (motor brand, etc...)

I'm going to use a Lehner 1020/15, GWS 400 H (5,28:1) Gearbox, Thunder Power 3S1P 2100 Lipo, 12x6 APC E, but I'm also very curious about the glow setup.

JBS -> RE: Filton Jumping Jack (9/30/2004 1:49:31 AM)

Hi Guys:
I hope Im forgiven for straying a bit from the thread's subject. I have a Hacker B20-15L with a Maxon 4:1 box. Its in an old timer that I've been flying for about 3 years now. I recently switched from Nicads (7 cells Sanyo CP1300's) to a Thunder Power 2S 2100 pack. While I have saved almost 6oz of weight the power is quite a bit off. Iam turning a 10.75" x 7 pitch cam prop at about 14amps. I also installed the new Phoenix 25, with USB program programing..very neat. I guess my main question is...Can My Hacker handle a 3S1P pack to get back that power, as i see wriiten about in various replies???? I do any #D aerobatics just maybe about 30 - 50 seconds of full throttle at Takeoff to cruise altitude. All up weight of my airplane is about 29oz with batteries. By the way, with my Nicads, the little Hacker was pulling almost 20amps full throttle static, 5,960 rpm. I have a wattmeter. Also, I have noticed some stuttering on starts, any help for this???
Thanks in advance for your help..
Jon B. Sheresha

JBS -> RE: Filton Jumping Jack (10/1/2004 1:15:01 AM)

C'mon Guys:
Anybody???? Give a guy a hand here! And BTW, who makes a Thunder Power pack that is 2100mhr x 3s1p???? I don't se it listted anywhere...
Thanks

dbr1990 -> RE: Fliton Jumping Jack (11/1/2004 6:00:10 AM)

will an eflite 370 brushless fly this model? The counter man at pegasus said he flew one with this setup. I looked at the kit, and it has the option of the stick gearbox mount. Any help please

bobbyg -> RE: Fliton Jumping Jack (2/12/2006 6:13:14 PM)

I'm off to very bad experience with my Jumping Jack----on second flight, inverted flat spin caused RH wing to separate---broke cleanly both 4.5mm square balsa spars right where wing attaches to fuse. I was very suspicious of wing strength in this area just looking at the kit---just not enough spar for wild stuff. Any one else out there have any similar experience? I will fix it with some carbon as there was no other significant damage. Naturally I am not quite so high on the JJ as some of the other contributors here......
