Ok I have now taken apart my rear dif and my center dif and neither of the difs gears look stripped. So I reassemble it and now something doesnt seem right. I can hold the cvd going to my front wheels and spin one of the front wheels and the other wheel will spin in the oposite direction. Then if i hold one of the front wheels and the cvd and try to spin the other its impossible. I think thats how its suppose to work. Now when I hold the cvd going to the rear wheels I cant turn either wheel without the cvd spinning. Like its locked up or something? I dont remember it being like this before. Also as you guys know before I posted about my problems with the car slipping in the rear and not in the front. So that was the reason for opening up the difs. I know from process of elimination from before than there was something wrong with my center dif because the cvd going to the rear wheels wasnt spinning when I applied pressure(this is with the car on and giving it throttle). But the cvd would spin going to the front wheels like it should when I applied pressure. I also took the gears up to the lhs and they inspected them and said that they didnt look stripped. I didnt have another set of gears to inspect them with but they didnt appear to be any wear. Could there be another problem causing this? I am taking it in to the lhs again today to have the owner look at it because he knows more about the 1\8 th buggies than I do. Also I guess i should mention that the center dif is a spider dif.

On the track, just put your foot in front of the buggy and hit the gas. If the center diff gears are gone, the spur gear will spin but the tires wont. If the rear gears are gone, the rear wheels won't spin. The front is the same deal.

You sure the grub screw in the rear transmision cup has not fallen out or made sure it is tight up to the flat on the shaft running through to the diff?

Yes I have done that but I dont think you guys or understanding me. When I stick the car on the ground and give it gas the front wheels will spin but the back wont. When you look at whats spinning you can see that the cvd going to the rear wheels isnt spinning. So if the center dif was fine wouldnt it spin the cvd? If the rear was blown then the rear cvd would spin and the gears would slip right? Well anyway I guess I am just going to buy a new set of gears for both difs and put them in. But I have one question first. Is the torsen better than the spider? What benifits do each of them have and what are there drawbacks? Thanks.

Not sure if this will help, but my car ended up being only front wheel drive all of a sudden. I ordered some shims and put them in the rear diff and everything seems to be working fine again. Then again, kirk89 might be on to something. If you have front wheel drive right now, I'd think the center and front diffs are fine. Maybe your rear end is somehow locked up.
