Trolling is like fishing. You write something just to see what you can get for reactions, or just to upset others. If I didn't think you were serious, I might have considered your posts about shooting down the plane as trolling.

Silversurfer,
You apparently know of a situation in California. Care to elaborate?

DB,

Just to set the record straight, I never said I would shoot a plane down. I would just jam their frequency. Same result I guess, except one is legal.

I am still confused about the reality thing. hmm

I agree with you totally, this is sooo made up.

I like how some people put themselves on a pedestal and the nerve to call someone a 3 year old. I guess I will never be as worthy as some.

Sorry, I should have been more clear; I meant "shooting" down as with a transmitter, but where someone mentioned using a gun I was definitely wrong to pick that term. (Or was I trolling?? )

DB Cherry,

I am currently involved in a situation that occurred about 3 years ago when a neighbor to the flying field used a vehicle to run down the owner of the property where the field is located. Injuries were quite serious to the property owner.

I would dearly love to relate all the particulars since I was there at the time and VERY involved in preventing further injury to the property owner.
Unfortunately, the matter is in the middle of a very large civil case and I have probably said more than I should have already. As the legals begin to wind down, I will tell a story of Biblical proportions from first hand experience. But please don't wait with baited breath, it's been three years so far.

ORIGINAL: DownSideUp

This is all really funny, cause I think this entire thread is crap. Back when Flyboy asked why the friend had to come over and pick a fight for the neighbor, I'm asking myself the same thing. Why can't the guy who lives next door to these guys, handle it himself. This whole thread is fiction. And look what it has done to all of you. You guys are ranting and raving like you were being interviewed in people magazine. Is someone going to ask what Jennifer Lopez thinks next? What about Ben Afleck? Janet Jackson has a quote. Drop this nonsense. This whole story is much like the Democratic Primaries, whoever wins is still gonna get their butts kicked by GWB anyway, so why are we talking about it?

Wow! I stay away for a few days to try to remedy the situation and everybody comes unglued! Didn't mean to start a war

Downsideup,
If you refer to my original post you would see that I offered to talk to the neighbor for my friend for 2 (count'm two) reasons. They are as follows:
1) My friend does not participate in this wonderful hobby. I do so I at least have something in common with this guy.
2) My friend is a hot head. I know him and the way the interaction betwixt the two of them would end up. I was perform active damage control.

I appreciate all of the advice and humor from everybody that posted.

Here's the update:

I did talk to the guy and he had no idea he was flying over my friends house. From his property it is difficult to judge the distance to my friends house due to trees and other brush and stuff. There is also a small hill in the middle of the field that really blocks his view.
I have seen this first hand. He agreed to cease all flights in that direction. And he has, too.
He was very apologetic about the whole thing. I mentioned maybe some specific flying hours to ease up the audio assault on the neighbors ears. He pulled out his shot gun and ran me off his property !

Just kidding

Problem solved.

That would be the reactions from most fellow RC pilots I beieve. I think 99% of the people in this hobby are cool as hell.

<Gutted>, I have been following this thread and some of the suggestions have been funny if carried out (some not so). I thought it might end up with fur and feathers flying, but what the hell. Alls well that ends well. We are all a bunch of softies when it comes down to it and respect to the neighbours for their reaction to your request

wormburner,
Really happy to hear it. I always try to be an advocate for simple, calm attempts at solutions first, and I would have been extremely surprised if things had gone badly.

Thanks for allowing me to keep some of my faith in humanity.
