I've got 5 GMS engines, and they've all been great engines. The 2 76's that i have have never ever deadsticked on me, not a single time. The 2 47's are good engines, they're alot touchier to get set up right than an OS or TT, though, but, then, they're a good deal stronger (with the tuned muffler) than the 46fx or tt46 with the factory muffler. I bought all of mine from www.gmsengines.com as well.

Ditto the comments on TT and getting parts. Ace is only part support and they do not do the job at all. Go with OS

When I had to get parts for my TT I called Ace and they had all the parts in stock but they only sell to dealers so they referred me to quantummodels.com. They didn't have all the parts in stock so they had to order them. It ended up taking two weeks to get them. I had first tried to get the parts through my local HobbyTown store but they lost the order. My LHS doesn't represent Thunder Tiger at this point. It would have been a lot nicer to be able to order from Tower and have them in a couple days.

Too bad the Tower .46 doesn't have a good reputation. They give free shipping on Tower engine part orders. This would be great for a SPAD engine!

Can someone tell me what the difference is between the tuned pipe available from gmsengines.com and what Tower sells with GMS engines? I don't want to have to turn around and buy another muffler - if I had to do that I may as well spring for the OS.

Well NitroWoman

here in SA Rustenburg a MVVS 49 = R1000.00 ( $142.00 ) but OS 46fx = R1750.00 ( $250 ) TT 46pro = R1600.00 ( $228.50 ) Irvine46 = R1400.00 ( $200 )

Ahhh, different part of the world, now I understand. If I could get MVVS for half the price of the others, that's all I would run. In my part of the world it is exactly opposite, MVVS is twice as much as GMS or Thunder Tiger. I can't believe our common engines are so expensive over there.

My two most used engines are TT Pro-46's. My only complaint is that they can be sensitive to low idle adjustment (but I like a s-l-o-w idle, my OS 70s have spoiled me). I like OS very much, but for the $ the TT Pro-46 is my choice on my SPA3D and my S/K-50. I run 15% in mine and they're snotty little engines.
Never had a mishap, break or failure (except as noted below).

For the first three years it won't matter if you can't get the parts locally for a Thunder Tiger - just send it back for free warranty service. I crashed mine and sucked some grit that I missed when cleaning it up. Scoured the piston and sleeve. I sent it in for an estimate to repair, but since it was only two years old they rebuilt the engine and dropped in a new cylinder and sleeve at no charge. (The piston and sleeve from ACE are about the same $ as a whole engine from Tower).

Thay have my business hereafter.
