any mugi flyers here ?

www.mugi.co.uk

Great site, very detailed. I've never actaully seen one & only found this site a few days ago but they look good. Planning to build one but standard size is optimal for micro servos, my questions is what size does it need to be scaled to for standard size rc gear ? S128 servos, standard 8 channel Rx & 700mah nicad.

info isn't on the site. There are spreadsheets to scale it up for differring correx thickness but nothing about ideal size for standard gear. Simply says use micro, performance degraded if using heaiver gear with normal sized wing

in that case, i would figure out the diffrence in weights, then scale up so you end up with same wing loading, but i think 1m span was about right. it really depends on the winds and slope you want to fly

thanks
having not seen one & not having a large slope close it's going to be trail & error I suspect.

Assuming your standard radio gear is twice as heavy as the recommended gear and assuming you use the same weight building materials, then the area has to be about twice as large to get the same wing loading. Therefore, I would increase all the linear dimensions by about 40 %. This will result in nice performance but it will not be quite as rugged as its smaller brother.

go up to the next size in correx if your going much bigger, give me an idea of the type of slopes your going for, we dont have those 400' lovelys down here either, have a look in the gliding section of www.rcflyers.fsnet.co.uk to see our slopes. the mugi will fly any of these and smaller. infact, the small mugi will fly even smaller slopes than we use.
Seeings as the glider is more or less free, 2 SD2000's @ 12.50 each and a Hi-Tec indoor RX with 270 mah pack wont break the bank. if your going to be playing on small hills and dunes the indoor RX will be fine. Hi-Tec also do a 3 channel 27 megs set that comes with nano servos and Rx. the set works on deltas, but you loose the rates and mugis get very twichy on elevator then
