If you start at the beginning and read down you will see that I purchased these chargers for evaluation and they all operate as they should except for the NIB DigiPace 3.

Five of these will exhibit a problem if the AC power is interrupted as you mention but none of them do that. That would result in a different appearing malfunction and is correctable by starting over.

Hobbico Accu-Cycle Plus
Hobbico Accu-Cycle Pro
Hobbico Quick Field charger
Hobbico Multi-Charger
Dymond Super Turbo Smart Charger
FMA Einstein XL Deluxe

Plus the one I just picked up......
the used Ace Super DigiPace 3 (the used model I repaired).

The test bench is isolated and set up for commercial electronics service. My inventory has over 20 Tektronix scopes and associated equipment.

Good idea though for others to look for a way to improve their setup.

I have a schematic for the Digipace 3 and if you like I can send you a copy . One Ham to another ACE RC USA was very responsive to the needs of the customer and supplied schematics readily .Too bad the new management of some other companies isn't as responsive
The original Digipace Mk1 was most commonly supplied in kit form and if you aquired yours second hand it was very likely built from a kit.
I have a Digipace 3 ,it was one of the last from the US owned ACE R/C and it works perfectly. Maybe with a little help from a schematic you can whip urs into shape !

73 fer now OM es drop me a PM if you wud like me to snail mail a copy to ur QTH SK

Sorry to hear about your Digipace-3.
I have had one for about 5yrs. and it has finally died. Wont cycle and I think auto peak is dead as charge indicator stays on all the time just gets a little dimmer.
As far as Ace goes .......Hah! I bought an RC-10 car pkg. that came with an Ace radio that didn't work. Had to buy a Futaba to use the car. Sent the Ace radio back (had a 10' range) . They sent it back as fixed guess what! Same problem I called them and asked if they ranged checked and they said yes it worked perfectly....Hmmmmm???? Well guess what the problem turned out to be... I found mismatch crystal freq. in receiver and trans. now how did that work for them. They sent another crystal and that took care of it but no mention of what I lost as credit etc, or how they obviously did not check things out. Will not but Ace products again if something else will work.
Have heard nothing but good on the two chargers I am thinking about:
1. Dymond SuperTurbo
2. FMA Supernova

I was going to let this languish and not report on what happened to the replacement (of the replacement) DigiPace 3, as the whole thing got to be old news.

Dan, I can understand your frustration with ACE. All responses received from them had to do with how busy they were or that the employee handling that end wasn't there anymore.

Just how did they do the range check? Good question.

Re the DigiPace 3 issue: I got the second replacement and didn't want to deal with it or them anymore. Left the thing sealed in the bag and put it on eBay. It's gone but I still have the unit that I purchased used and repaired.

I use the Dymond Super Turbo all the time and the others (Einstein etc.) just wait in the wings and get used when necessary.

The ST is amazing as it will bring batteries back from the dead in most cases.

I may pick up a second ST.

Thanks K7dfw

Well past is past and we live and learn. Anyway I am checking the LH today to see if they have an ST in stock. Decided on it over the super nova. If not well probably order off the net. By the way is that your ham call sign?

Earned it while in high school at 15 years of age some 44 years ago. Flying radio control aircraft during 1956/57 progressed into getting interested in amateur radio and a license in 1958.
