I purchased a new ACE Super DigiPace 3 and put it to work.

Both sides charge but the RX side won't discharge. No problem, I'll just contact them to get instructions on what and how to return.

Call them and get a recorder so I leave my phone number. Go to their web site and fill out a customer email form and send it. Days go by and no answer. Send more email and still no answer after a week.

Only option is to box the unit up, keep the accessories here, and mail it to them.

I'm having trouble sending something to a company which hides behind a recorder, won't return my call and won't respond to my email which only asks for a return authorization and instructions.

I have the feeling that if I send it to them, it will disappear in a dark hole and it will the the last time I see it.

I will not purchase any more ACE products because of this.

QUESTION: Has anyone else dealt with these people?

They hide their email address and say on their web site that this is because they receive spam. I got their email address from a search but to date it has proved negative.

Their web site has the logo "SERVING THE R/C ER"
Not from where I stand.

About not sending the unit to them. If it gets lost your out of luck. Sounds to me like the company is hitting the rocks and going out of business. Where did you buy the unit????

Since it wont discharge that takes away much of the functionality of the unit.

With Sirius, SuperNova and Superturbo's available I stayed away from product lines like Ace Etc.

If you cant get in touch with them.....I would say your out of luck and chalk it up to bad luck.

I am leary of any company that has no online or phone tech support.

Sorry I cant help you out with your delima.

No TX Discharge When Cycling - 6/1/2002 6:41:41 PM

Are you connecting to the TX battery pack direct or through the charging jack on the TX case? Many transmitters have a diode installed to prevent reverse charging/inadvertent discharging. Just a thought - if you have't done so already, connect directly to the TX pack and see if it works. I've got an older ACE Digipace which has worked well for me for many years.

Daryl,

Both sides charge properly, the TX side discharges properly and it is only the RX side that doesn't discharge.

If enough time goes by without any contact from these people I'll open it up and take a look at the relay and circuitry associated with the discharge cycle.

The unit was purchased from an eastern company via the Internet but they don't have the ability to take back a unit that was bad from the manufacturer. I don't blame them and I wouldn't want them to do that. They shouldn't have to eat this. It's a problem that came from ACE and ACE needs to have the moral courage to stand behind their product.

I obtained a number of chargers / cyclers to evaluate:

Hobbico Accu-Cycle Plus
Hobbico Accu-Cycle Pro
Hobbico Quick Field charger
Hobbico Multi-Charger
Dymond Super Turbo Smart Charger
FMA Einstein XL Deluxe
Ace Super DigiPace 3

All work OK except for the ACE.

I am very pleased with the FMA Einstein XL Deluxe. It's to the point and works like a charm. More settings than the DigiPace and for less money. The Deluxe comes with a pair of really useful adapters.

If I only had two for the work bench the choice would be the Dymond ST and the Einstein XL Deluxe.

Check Six,

Rolynn aka K7DFW

Ooops - my apologies, I misread your post! As a point of interest, my old Ace Digipace 1 (2nd generation mind you being at least switchable between 500 & 1000 mah RX pack) stopped working a few years back. I work on a military base as an aircraft mechanic and brought the thing in to our labs where they repair some of our radios and black boxes. On inspection the tech who repaired it for me said he wasn't too impressed by the quality of the soldering - the problem was either a cold solder joint or corrosion on a terminal as a result of not removing all the flux after soldering, I can't remember but he fixed it up for me. You are right though, ACE should stand behind their product - and this means both in the customer service and repair departments!

..........."I work on a military base as an aircraft mechanic".........

Daryl,

I was a flight line mechanic on the B-47E (Bomb Nav) and F-4C (Weapons Control).

Does that date me? It was only 39 years ago.

Check Six Often,

Rolynn

Thanks Mglavin for the heads-up but that is the "customer email form" I mentioned in the third paragraph in the original posting.

Sent a week ago.

Isn't America great, they're just a credit card away.

Get the Einstein Deluxe. For $15 more than the basic you get four adapters, two of which are irreplaceable and worth far more than the $15.
