Status: offline 		i was trying to start my little o.s. on a cold day and the prop stopped in the middle of compression and then it kicked back and hit my finger, no cut just some pain and a blood blister. now i enjoy r/c cars. still go.t the plane but havent been able to get it started

Status: offline 		Not a prop story but certainly related to one of those brain fart moments. I was soldering a metal clevis to the control rod for my Extra. I was using a a bottled propane torch when my hand holding the solder wiggled just enough to cause the still hard solder end to hit the new soft solder on the clevis. This small movement caused the hot molten solder to splatter back at me getting on my shirt. Just before I started the job I removed my glasses and put on safety goggles. None went on the goggle or my face, but this is about as close as I would want to get to the stuff. Glad I had goggles on.

Status: offline 		Sliced my ring finger on an APC prop that was on my Saito .72.......IT WASN'T RUNNING!

I had just bolted on the prop in the basement and was checking to see if it was tight. As I turned the prop nut with a ratchet, I was holding the prop in my other hand, I looked down and it was bleeding! Just the pressure from tightening the prop nut was enough to make a bloody mess.

Status: offline 		Came to close but never has happened to me. One flying buddy almost had his finger cut through.Didnt teach him anything though. He is a loner and the way he handles his profole fun flies when starting and tuning its no wonder, it will happen again.Thats why we set up at least 30 to 40 feet away from him. He is not a bad flier though just bad ground habits. I have cut my finger on a master airscrew glass prop forgot to sand the edges.

Status: offline 		I got wacked about 1 1/2 years ago from a reflex reaction I started the plane and released it and it started to roll toward me and I put my hand down on top of the prop to stop it duh! the plane holder would have stopped it .But got 10 sticthes and nerve damage on the outside egde of my hand and can't feel anything in my pinky so now I make it A point to have sombody help me out.[image][/image]

Status: offline 		I've been cut, whacked, bruised, split, everything but broken. I've lost enough blood from these little monsters, that I could have given myself transfusions.
The TWO worst were adjusting the NV on a buddy's S.T. 61 and I caught the BACK of my knuckle on the BACK of the prop, and starting (same engine, glad it was not mine) the prop stopped mid arc, and cut a slice out of my middle finger from the second knuckle to the tip, down to the bone. Got a doozy on the back of my right hand from....well I got lots!
I'll post pictures of my mangled hands if it will help anyone.

Status: offline 		Just got back from the emergency rm. Had an OS 160 w/18X6 prop slice up my little finger, take off my third finger at the knuckle and a nice chunk off my middle one. Ouch! BE CAREFUL.

Status: offline 		You need to add a catagory for multiple prop strikes in my case. Not with diesels, either (so far). I have a skin graft from one of them, and a couple of scars, too! All these resulted from adjusting the needle valve on glow two strokes from the side or from the front. I don't do that anymore, and I am obnoxious enough to say something to others when they do--but only once. After that, they are on their own. Dzl

Status: offline 		Funny to see this after last week. I have moved and now in a position in which I'm flying by myself and had a scare last week. I know I shouldn't be flying alone but thats the way it is. I was starting a Sig Wonder on a spool to support it and when it came to life it caught my shirt and wrapped itself into it cutting it about 30 times before dying. I didn't cut myself but it scared the heck out of me and now I'll never fly a hand launch like it again by myself. I just keep thinking what would of happend if it wopuld of got into my gut, even though it would of just caught belly fat.

Now I am very fearful of that spinning bad boy, and I also teach my students to be fearful of it also.

Status: offline 		Started in CL and have bashed the knuckles many times due to kick back. I only tried to adjust the needle by reaching through the prop once. I guess I'm a quick learner.

Status: offline 		On a twin engine plane always start the engine on the other side of the
plane first. I started the engine next to me first....then while starting the other
one, I stuck my left hand into the running one....BAM....goodbye left thumb
nail....(that smarted).

Luckily it was only a .40 size engine and it was idleing.
